Engineered floors are the way forward tho, using solid wood and reclaimed ect usally causes more problems later down the line with movement ect.

it wont be expensive at all to re lay the floor yourself, its pretty easy to do. i doubt very much the swell will retract, also sounds like a cheap floor as the laminate sounds to have taken a lot of water on board, obviously wasnt pre treated to a degree of water protection
