Excellent. Sanchez for the number 3 GK spot then, with more of our resources freed up for that elusive 25 goals a season striker.

"The 32-year-old has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract with the club, extending his stay until June 2019."

Would appear to be a one year extension on his current deal - it runs until June 2019, so we've got him signed up for a further two years.

He was out of contract so not sure how it's an extension. I know it says 2019 on the official site but think that's incorrect.

Think whoever put that release out completely buggered it up.

Hmm....good point.

Yes...................I think they did!

Anyway, he's playing today, and it's July so guess he must at least be signed up for this season. Hope so - he's made some excellent saves.

Shambles.

Call it 18 months?

There is something a bit unusual about Maenpaa's contract. Just before he first signed for the club in July 2015, the Argus stated "The Argus understands Mäenpää will sign for up to two years, based on various conditions to be met in the first year." At the end of that first season, the Football League retain/transfer list showed him as being still in contract (rather than having being made an offer of re-engagement, as Casper Ankergren was).

Albion still reported on June 14 2016 that he had signed a "new one-year contract extension." However, this new extension was never shown in the FA registration booklets, which does seem to suggest that his original contract was merely entering a second [optional] year.

Again, in the Football League retain/transfer list for 2016-17, he is listed as being under contract (unlike Bong, Sidwell and Stockdale who were all listed as being out of contract but having received offers of re-engagement).

I don't know enough about contracts, clauses and options to know all the ins-and-outs but his deal certainly seems to be a bit different from other first-teamers.

Obvious innit? - zero hours contract. Got to be!
