In the context of today's market, if that's your centre forward sorted for the next 6 years then it may prove "sensible" (which is insane!).

I've genuinely lost all concept of fees now. I don't really care that they've rocketed. These are the assets and that's their market value at the moment.

What's confusing me is I used to know what a "big" fee was. Arguably £4m+ in the Championship and £15m in the prem would be signings widely reported.

Now it feels like £30m is the new "par" in the prem for good players.

Could Norwich hijack the deal whilst he's on the M62?

He's an absolute monster of a striker, I've always rated him. I was ASTONISHED after that fantastic season he had on loan at WBA (17 in 35) that Mourinho then let him go on loan to Everton the following season, particularly as Drogba was moving on. He looked like the perfect replacement for Chelsea at that time.

Great signing, he'll score bucketloads there. £75m is nuts, but that's just the Premier League premium these days after Sky poured that £5.5bn into the TV pot.

Still a young man too, scores 20 goals a season guaranteed, should get more for Utd, ridiculous price, but is the going rate.

Yup. Only 24 years old, he's got 10 years at the top level easy and will have plenty of resale value.

D&D are going to have their hands full come November

I think you'll find he was on his way down to London to meet with the MUFC gang before they fly out on tour, but got stopped in his tracks by a phone call from someone who was offering a 'triffic deal' for a 'top, top, TOP' player. This all happened just prior to the M6 Toll...

Time for the Albion's Forty Notes Fund to get moving again.

Having funded the past loans of Tony Rougier, Dave Beasant, Ben Roberts and Chris Iwelumo, only 1,875,000 supporters are needed to chip in to get Romelu in an Albion shirt.*

*Signing-on fee, agents fee and wages not included
