Apparently has a release clause of £13 million. Record of 1 in 3 at Man Utd (beating in mind he didn't necessarily start as many games as he could have.) Record of 1 in 2 at Bayer Leverkusen. Just turned 29. If the wage demands weren't astronomical, would you sign him?

The last figures I can find are from his Utd and Real Madrid contract and are around £100k a week. As 29 year old I doubt he would command that much. It's suggested he may go back to Mexico. I would suggest even at the top end of our wage scale (rumoured to be around £40-45k) it's got to be a better deal?

I doubt you will find many Brighton fans who wouldn't. However, there's no point in debating it really as he won't come to us.

Not a chance. Great player. Been playing Champions league football for years. At 29 will be well outside our wage structure.

Our signings come from one of:
Unproven youth players.
Championship cast-offs.
Mid-lower Premier League unused squad players.
Unknown foreign league players.
Players with injury history.

We don't/can't compete for top, healthy or first team top 10 club players.

Sorry for the pessimism. We support B&HA, be real!

2-3 years in the Premier League and we can start competing for these players.

I can understand people's skepticism but did anyone really think we'd have signed the likes of Wayne Bridge or Vicente in the Championship........until we did? I don't think it's likely but I also don't think it's impossible. If he's talking to West Ham, who were in a relegation battle for much of last season and nearly sacked Bilic, then why couldn't Hughton persuade him to come?
