He’s being silly, ignore him F35 Trials start next year!!

Not according to the BBC, they say 2021 before they are deployed operationally and there won't be the 36 they Navy originally thought due to financial considerations.

It will take virtually every destroyer we have to form a Battle Group, a vanity project from the start - kept some shipbuilding jobs for a while I suppose.

The BBC got a lot wrong including calling the next carrier HMS Prince Charles when it will be HMS Prince of Wales.
The ship will have a couple of escorts like Sutherland/Monmouth and Iron Duke plus an RFA.

At least this one had planes on.The carrier will mainly be operational under NATO,so will have escorts from allied nations.

I got my nose broken playing football against the JFK in 76, got a call round though, it was segregated then, blacks up forrard, hispanics midships, and whites aft.
Around 71/2 it was in Palma the shore patrol carried bigger batons than the Liverpool police.
When we flew back to Blighty we could see the aircraft carrier in the bay.

Probably 71.I remember the big batons sorting out a massive punch up in the Vic bars at Weymouth June/July time.

Hyperbole!
We had problems in the 60s, and were sailing in old crates in the 50s. Once great nation indeed!
True, my mistake we were sailing in awful crates in the 1500's too... Mary Rose for example

If anyone has worked in Engineering / Manufacturing, you will appreciate things go wrong. Problems get ironed out, sorted and things get improved.
