ELO...loved them as a kid in the 70s/80s, saw them at the O2 18 months or so ago, still good but not cool (apparently, according to my offspring, one of whom came to the gig with me)

Saw him early on at the Brighton Centre.

Loved much of that kind of music with my mates. I only found out literally the other day (in a Thomas Dolby interview on 5Live) that it wasn't cool the time. I was surprised as it was well past punk, and the main alternative for 15 and 16 year old then was old fashioned, greasy and uncool ACDC/Saxon/Rainbow.

We liked new wave too, which was inter-linked with synth music,
