I used to have every social media going, closed everything except Twitter now. It's the best for fast news especially in sports. Regarding people like Stockdale it's dead easy to get annoyed by the attention seeking so you just unfollow them.

I have a nomad-forum one that I rarely use. Although I think I have over 300 followers, can't think why, I have put about 20 messages on it in about 7 years.
Edit: Just opened it up it says 847 tweets? Definitely not all mine, does it include others posting to me? And I completely got followers wrong, it is: 746.

Facebook was hugely useful at university, many group projects were communicated through there
Snapchat was good before Tinder took off
Instagram was just good for a quick browse
Plenty of conversing in the real world, what you're thinking about is those addicts who sit on their phone while in a restaurant, they're weirdos.

Personally I much prefer Twitter to Facebook. To me Facebook is aimed largely at students , Twitter is for older people.

Yep. As others have said, its excellent for up-to-the-second news about anything. You can react and interact with other fans, friends, journalists, slebs. There's an endless stream of amusing pics and videos which are often laugh-out-loud funny. There's free porn. Its informative, its immediate, its addictive, and you don't get any of the boring cryptic "grrr so pissed off right now" or "can't sleep" or "oh I'm so ill" posts that constantly festoon Facebook fishing for the "you alright hun? " responses. You can also openly "call out" businesses on there when their responses to getting something fixed has been less than satisfactory. A bloke here at work went postal on BT when they once again failed to connect his broadband. Went on Twitter and publically ranted at their @BTcustomerservice (or whatever the handle is), threw a few shitty hashtags at them, and within an hour he'd been contacted and it was sorted.
I love it.
I never understand why companies buckle to a tweet, as no one can see this unless someone searches BT, follows the tweeter, the company engages.
Looking after my companies account from time to time we are moving away from just handing over the goods because someone tweets, I think others are as well.
We actually care more about forums...

Comparing Facebook with Twitter is like comparing Top Gear to Sex in the City. Both are very successful TV Programmes but that is where the similarity ends.
Facebook is for the female of the species. Inspirational Poetry. Pictures of new born kids. Questions about the elder kids homework. Arranging desperate housewife nights out where they take a picture of themselves all smiling before slagging each other off and saying how shit it all is in complete contrast to whats posted on FB where they are the 'Best friends in the world xx'
Twitter meanwhile is generally for blokes. It's not like logging on here where you read everyones drivel. You can follow who you want and bin anyone that posts shite never to be seen again. My timeline is a mixture of the 4.15 at Yarmouth, Albion chatter, Donald Trump and the Russians and Helen Glover's arse. It is also an absolutely glorious tool for taking the piss out of opposition fans when the time is right*
*Equally it's well worth avoiding when you don't go up on the last day of the season.
