"Unless Dembele is kicking down the doors of Peter Lawwell and Brendan Rodgers and demanding to go, he should not be sold unless Celtic get absolute top dollar from a major club.
And he most certainly should not be getting sold to a Brighton for around £20million.
Why on earth would Dembele fancy Brighton? It’s hardly bright lights and the chances are he would be heading down to the Championship at the end of the season where he started his UK career at Fulham."

Celtic have said that there is nothing in the Brighton rumour. Brighton have said there is nothing in the Dembele rumour, so it would seem that this very likely emanates from agents, as Paul Barber puts it 'making markets'. If that can be worked out by an outside observer why can't it be worked out by a former pro working as a pundit? Is it anything to do with his opinions being up for sale? The most forceful or outrageous opinions would probably get the highest price, or the most returning buyers. If a pundit can also massage the egos of the fans of his ex club by talking about what giants they are compared to the minnows of Brighton then all the better for the pundit. Its all froth, but it sells copies of the Daily Record and feeds Chris Sutton's family.

Sutton's question as to why Dembele would go to Brighton because 'it's hardly bright lights' wouldn't make sense coming from anyone with the slightest bit of knowledge of the city, let alone a player that spent 10 years of his career living in Norwich and Blackburn.

Well.....IF we were to bid for Dembele......and IF we were to sign him......and IF we were still relegated back to the Championship........I can only assume that the pig-ignorant Mr. Sutton has seriously over-rated the ability and value of Dembele.

Sutton you absolute cock bucket!

For Dembele, it’s about leaving perhaps the most uncompetitive top league in Europe (where he is regularly playing teams that would struggle in England’s League Two) and joining the biggest, greatest League in the world (in any sport) to a team with world class facilities and world class fans who are a hair’s breadth away from the top 10 and could offer him ‘number 1 striker’ status and a window and subsequent route to the World Cup.

I hope Sutton trips over his 6 toed feet and chokes on his ****ing carrot!

Celtic have said that there is nothing in the Brighton rumour. Brighton have said there is nothing in the Dembele rumour.

Not quite. They both merely denied that Albion had made a bid and Celtic denied it had been accepted.
Long way short of a denial that he's an Albion target and Celtic haven't exactly ruled out discussion he could be sold. .

Just quietly add Sutton to the list of pundits we could make a show of come May...

Tried looking this up in my football encylopedia, but cannot find anything of reference

‘A Brighton’ could be a new NSC saying

One fact is clear.. we don’t have the luxury of waiting until the end of the transfer window to do business so my feeling is that if a deal or deals are not done by mid January then whoever we were after has gone. The irony is that but for some huge misses we could have been 9 points better off

And but for some huge misses by the opposition we could be in the bottom three. Just enjoy the ride.

Don't see any way that Dembele will move before the last few days of the window as he will wait to see if better offers come in for him.
Hopefully we will have signed someone long before that if we are not to risk repeating the mistakes of the summer.

Why not? VVD could have gone to any top club in Europe and yet he made his mind up before the window had even opened

A slight difference in that Liverpool had been chasing him since the summer and he practically went on strike in July/August in order to join them.
