I see they only got 500,000 votes. Caroline Lucas very high profile and untouchable in Brighton.. However over last ten years as a Party seem to have made no progress

Odd isn't it, that the only party to put climate change into the election can only poll that many. Clearly the issue sin't at the forefront of anybody's minds.

Odd.

How many constituencies did they contest? There wasn't a candidate where I live

Last Wednesday renewable sources generated over 50% of our energy, and more and more renewable generation sites are being built across the country, so is it really a big issue that is not being tackled already?

Agreed. They actually got less votes overall than UKIP, which shows how relevant they are. The bottom line is they only do (even remotely) well in places where there is a high proportion of smug, comfortable middle class virtue-signallers. Being an anti-industry party they get absolutely stuffed in working class constituencies. Lucas is an aberration.

Fair point. The economy is probably taking hold finally but the fact is it's not happening quick enough. And that 50% was on a windy sunny day in June.

Different times, yesterday we finally had the luxury of voting for different parties, that'll always squeeze out the minority parties.

2015 we had the 2 main parties (leaders) fighting over centre right policies, while flirting with the further right UKIPers.
With the Lib-dems all but discredited, there wasn't any 'Green' voice in any manifesto, making a protest vote Green, very attractive.

Correct. Plus this time there was much more of an "anyone but Tory" attitude to many voters so tactical rather than protest/heart v head voting will have been higher.

Let's not forget that the Greens actively fought for tactical voting which certainly played a part in Kemp Town.

Twice as many votes nationally as the DUP, who, with their 10 seats are "Kingmakers". That's FPTP for you...

1.6% of the vote

More than:
DUP
Sinn Fein
Plaid Cymru

Just a few less than UKIP

they also received more than half of the SNP vote

(and yes I definitely think that we should have a PR voting system that reflects this which would result in representation for UKIP)

So yeah...rejected by the electorate........

AND they withdrew candidates in marginal seats so could possibly have increased their 1.6%

Ignoring the environment is a genius national security strategy - be much more tricky for terrorists to undertake attacks underwater!
