We're doing well. Much better today, gives a bit of hope for the tests.

Fed up with trains. Sick of the rain.
Massive improvement on the Blues performance. Shut down the Crusaders and never allowed them to unleash their strike runners. Pity we butchered our best chances but hopefully that will come. Huge step up in intensity which was pleasing. That was a real morale boosting win against the stand out side in Super Rugby. Pleased that the referee took a more 'European' approach to officiating the scrum.

Hogg out for the tour and on his way home after that freak accident.

Highlanders are up next for the Lions - kick in a couple of hours time...

Broken cheekbone.

Wonder if they'll call up Mike Brown - thought he should have gone in the first place even though Hogg had an immense Six Nations.

I think they probably will get him on a plane.

The Lions can't afford to shoehorn anyone in with the real possibility (probability?) of further injuries.

Been watching a new vlog on the Lions Tour - cracking viewing, they have previews and reviews of each match by a Kiwi and Irish chap who both live in NZ. Very interesting. It's called The 1014 and certainly worth it.

Not a great last 20 mins. A couple of missed penalties, they converted theirs.

A close game that could've gone either way. Disappointing, but nothing too terrible.

It's onto Saturday with the Maoris now.

yes if Farrell had converted that penalty it would have lined us up for a win ...fine margins and all that

Ran out of steam in the last fifteen minutes which is a worry. Highlanders play a revved up game and always being indoors -FB Stadium has a permanent roof - and a fast playing surface mean they're a handful for any side at home.

Lions need to work on their skills under the high ball. What killed them today was the casual indiscipline. Highlanders second try came from a driving maul from a penalty line out. We had just cleared our lines superbly from an identical situation; then gave them a second chance with a needless, hot headed infringement at the line out. Have to cut that out. You cannot cede these NZ sides possession and territory.

Mike Brown should be on the next plane. Gutted for Hogg who's one of my favourite players, but Brown is outstanding under the high ball and his controlled aggression is what we will need at FB against the All Blacks.

The one other factor today was a Southern Hemisphere ref..his I nterpretation of the breakdown..scrum etc helped Highlanders just as it was the reverse last Saturday..of course you could say players should realise that and adapt..but ask how the Crusaders players felt last weekend.

This weekend we have Steve Walsh who can be a bit of a controversial character and then for the tests a Frenchman, Aussie and SA

Brown would have been my first name on the sheet...but the lions are managed by a kiwi who is Welsh biased!
