Only been once which was enough to be honest. Stayed in the Tropicana and highlight was the Grand Canyon, awesome beyond belief.

Walked all along the strip, hotels all interesting but after a few days you realise how tacky it really is, we ended up in some remote area that was decidedly dodgy so Mrs Hut suggested we call a cab, if only I had a number in my mobile to ring !

Another place too common for Lord and Lady Muck

Fed up with trains. Sick of the rain.
Nearly twenty years since I was there, however, echo the thoughts of others about the grand canyon helicopter trip. It's immense. We stayed at New York, New York which was pretty impressive back - casino area was laid out like Central Park . I believe there is now an authentic 'Oirish' bar there now. Guinness may make a nice, if expensive, change from the gassy Budweiser.

Sadly, I believe the excellent craft beer pub at the Monte Carlo hotel closed at the end of last year:(

Best advice I can give is to leave your good taste at the gate and immerse yourself in the experience. And definitely go and see the canyon.

Jump off the stratosphere mate , I have done it twice once during day and then at night , get a players reward card first at stratosphere then you get a discount when booking the sky jump . It's amazing . Also do what other say and get Groupon for some discounts . Have been three times and last two stayed at Excalibur which was ideally located for us , plenty of hostesses coming round offering drinks and poker tourneys for 45 bucks . I recommend visiting the yard house either up at town square or by the big wheel never seen so many beers and happy on most of day and recommend the hot pastrami melt and also the boneless chicken wings washed down with a pint of pineapple cider

Went many years ago for a wedding. Missed most of Vegas and so had to go back a year later.
Canyon. We flew out in a four seater plane and the chopper down to the floor. Look around when you get there for bargains.
Gambling. Don't, you'll never win.
Old town. Visit at dusk as there is a great light show on the ceiling. Taxi in & out.
Shows. Do as many as you can. You may need to book these in advance.
Go to EVERY hotel buffet (Parisian was my fave).
Take the missus on a gondola, romantic.

One tip, which is used by some of the BA crews, when you check into your hotel put $50 in your passport and say to the person on the desk, "And that's for you", then politely enquire if there are any room upgrades. Have ended up with top quality rooms at Ceasers twice doing this.

I go every year for the Superbowl, love the place, although it is surreal. As you said the clubbing is expensive drinks wise, but we did this club crawl sort of thing, which was about $50 for entry into 3 nightclubs over the evening, queue jump etc with drinks on the 'party bus'. If there's a big enough group of you its a good way of doing the clubs if that's your thing. As mentioned above, top golf is good value and good fun, also not sure if you're golfers but we played a golf course out in Boulder City which was good value for hire and the round. I'm always amazed by how good the food is out there, and not just your standard american uber sized portion stuff. Make the most of the free drinks in the Casino's, i'm not a slots man but do a lot of Craps which I think is a great game - not as intimidating as blackjack. Let me know if you want any specific restaurant recommendations etc.

Been a few times

Got married outside in a private garden at Caesers 18 months ago. Was amazing, Have stayed at treasure Island, Vdara, Planet Hollywood and The signature @ MGM (Deffo the nicest, had a 2 bed suite for a reasonable price)

Would recommend the monorail if you want to go up to Stratosphere from the main strip, its like 8 dollars for a 24 hour pass

Some lovely restraunts as well, i recommend the peppermill (cheap) and Costa Di Mare athe the Wynn (more expensive)

Fremont street is great fun at night, but dont venture too far from the main part of it (i saw some things i cant unsee), and people i know have been robbed there

If there is 8 of you look at bottle service, depending what day you go you can get a couple of bottles/entry/table for £100 each - considering it's 30ish to get in and 20 a drink it works out cheaper - there was 6 of us back in April and we got a table at chateau which isn't a super club, but it ticked our clubbing box.

Do you have Twitter ?

Yes I am on twitter mate

Hello from a Vegas resident. All good advice on this thread. If you want a good inexpensive Buffet head off the Strip to the Orleans, the Slots are looser there as well. Outside the Orleans is an Irish Pub called McMullens that shows all the Premier League matches. The Breckie and Roast Dinner are good as well for a reasonable price. There are two "British" Pubs both called the Crown and Anchor which are ok but be aware that they are in pretty sketchy areas. Do NOT walk in the area behind the Stratosphere, you will get rolled. I made the mistake of going to that irish Pub in New York New York the other day, $19 for two Stellas. Red Rock Casino is great but its in Summerlin which is a few miles away from the Strip, all the locals go here because you can actually win a bit of dosh that pays for your day out. Do not go to a Bar in SW Vegas called "Born and Raised". Its where the AFC Bournemouth fans drink, well me and another bloke.

Right folks, if you all had 24 hours in Vegas by yourself what would you do? I am going next month for a work trip, but because of my plans + stupid ticket rules of a minimum 3 night stay with our corporate travel agent I've got 24 hours before my colleagues join me.

Grand Canyon is getting a serious thought, but also stuff on the strip would be handy. I've been to Vegas before so done a lot of the casinos etc... Anything FUN?

You sound like me! I've seen O 3 times and would go again, by far the best Cirque I've seen. Also WSOP is a great time to be there. Played in main event 3 times but prefer the Venetian deepstack series now ... although 3 years since I played it :(

Yep not been for few years for WSOP now but last time was there for 6 weeks!! Was doing cobblers at one point and looking at moving to one of them buy your own sheets hotels(Days Inn?) but then cashed for chunks in Venetian DSE and stayed there for a month!! This was at time when u could leave the comp account running as long as u like as well so was getting poker rate for room and also $2ph food comp when was clocked in(sometimes 24hrs at a time!!)......just ask to get it sent to Grand Lux Cafe and its there by the time u walk over to order!!

O is amazing and will never bore me as always spot something different! Even the pre-show is amazing!!
