If ever they wanted to ruin the magic of the cup, they are doing a great job with street poets and random people bursting into reading style tinpot songs... Oh dear.

I'm taking advantage of my other half being away for the weekend to indulge in all the build up and the match.

I'm giving up, It's truly awful, Even my 11 year old daughter is cringing.

I didn't even know the FA Cup final was on today, until about 10am. The magic of the FA Cup went a long time ago for me. It needs a complete shake up.

Gone are the days when it was on ITV with wrestling with big nmes taking part pre game. It was a ritual to watch from about 12 noon until the presentation of the cup at about 5.30pm

I thought KO was 3pm, so rushed to get home to watch. I wish I hadn't bothered...

Like a lot of the more mature football fans on here I remember the times when FA Cup final days were a special occasion.

It used to occupy broadcast coverage from 9am to kick off time at 3pm. It was probably one of the few live games that were broadcast and necessitated getting in food and beer and hours of sitting on the couch watching with mates.

The special nature of this match has been consigned to history.

Very true those were the days but now it has lost its magic and importance in the football calendar

It was very special but it never started at 9am , more like 11am or 12pm in the 70s/80s.

BBC ONE are doing 5 and a half hours today of coverage. As much as they ever did back then.

1995 - started 12.20pm - http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/95d3a35a61294f3a805e943900c5a985
1972 - started 10.45am http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/f9f0ba18c3fa44298402cea4ea3cc0ce
1970 - 11am - http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/758135ed0a8c4f989a53a45042c53241
1974 - 11.15am etc http://genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/5af1c91e15b74db1b3a9cf74cd82237f

That is how I remember it but I am sure my memory tells me that on occassions they went to the hotels and met the players at breakfast.

Have they done Its A Cup Final Knockout yet.
I will be home soon, so excited to see the aerial shots of the coaches leaving the hotels, and the managers being interviewed on route to The Twin Towers.
Who is doing the pre match sing along from the white painted platform, is it Jimmy Tarbuck?

Not watching it ...
Remember when they had coverage from the team hotels and on the coach to the stadium. I know the Bellhouse Hotel in Beaconsfield was one of the usual team places.

Watched for about 30 secs and switched over, watching Scottish Cup Final and it's actually quite an enjoyable game. Aberdeen certainly had their chances. 1-1 at the moment.
