I much preferred the old days when a player was here for season after season: how long did we have Geoff Greenidge? how long did we have Imran and Le Roux?

Sad to hear about Ed, I thought he'd come back for one last hurrah, play one game and say goodbye but it wasn't to be. He was a fine performer for Sussex, an average of a shade under 50 is not be sniffed at. Hope he's still playing when Ireland play their first test.

There was an exchange of views at close quarters. Coughlin was trying to get a noball called for too much short stuff. Next ball he tried to pull out of a shot and succeeded only in deflecting the ball down on to his middle stump. [emoji38]
