Ruddy is probably on premier wages from their time in that league so would he accept being No 2 and would he be an expensive no 2 as we still have to get a No 1. I would sooner agree a deal with Maenpaa and let him and Ruddy fight out as to who is No 1.

I agree. Except the point that Ruddy would have been on PL wages. Norwich have relegation clauses in their contracts so when they went down his wages would have gone down. The majority of the clubs have relegation clauses in contracts now

It'll be Ruddy Hell, if that's the limit of our ambitions, he's shit.

He kept a clean sheet at Carrow Rd and according to the Sky commentary he has kept a clean sheet against us in 3 out of the previous 4 times he played against us.

One of 9 clean sheets he kept all season in 27 league appearances. An integral part of a defence which conceded more goals than anyone except Rotherham and Forest - which would suggest he's a significant backward step from Stockdale. I don't see why we'd be signing someone hoping to revive a career that's been going nowhere for several years rather than looking for a player who is definitely up to the job.

Made 15 appearances since February having 1n clean sheet. The worry is that with Elliott out Newcastle still let him go out on loan so why? Perhaps Benitex doesnt rate him

I thought it was strange at the time, but Krul had some family problems in Holland and he'd just got back to fitness after a bad (knee?) injury so they loaned him out to Ajax. It didn't really work so he ended up going somewhere else. He's a top quality goalkeeper.

Ruddy is being severely underrated by some on here. As a number 2, he would be good value. He would be an upgrade on Maenpaa but we clearly need a top quality goalkeeper coming in.

He was coming back from a very bad lengthy injury and he didn't want to play Championship football. Signed a contract extension before going out on loan where he expected to play, initially for Ajax, recalled in Jan as he wasn't playing enough so went back out to AZ Alkmar where he still didn't feature much.

The club looked to protect their asset and Benitez rates him so it's not that, it just made sense for someone else to subsidise his Premier league salary while Newcastle were 'on loan' to the Championship.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will not complete a permanent switch to an Italian team as he wants to play in England next season.
Szczesny will snub any offers from Italy as he wants to continue his career in England.
The goalkeeper has just over a year left to run on his Arsenal contract, meaning he could be sold this summer rather than him leaving for free in July 2018.

Just the sort of contract position we look for....

Ruddy is a real potential, I assume CH managed him before at Norwich (?) so knows him.

I still find it slightly depressing that having been through everything to achieve promotion, which means so much to this club and city, that Stockdale would rather sit on Chelsea's bench than be a part of history for us and be our first choice in the EPL. How much money do you actually need? He'll be a nobody at Chelsea, their fans won't know who he is nor care. He'll be out on loan at another Championship club within 2 seasons. A real shame.

John Ruddy [Norwich]
"The club did have the option on me, but mitigating circumstances within that contract meant that it was probably impossible for the club to uphold that."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39843745

Reading this part

"I was grateful to him, to (majority shareholder) Delia Smith and (former chief executive) David McNally for allowing me to join the club, for the years after that, apart from this season and last season, have been superb''

Sounds like his time under CH was good but after CH left he seems to have not enjoyed his time there. Maybe therein lies a reason for his dip in form

Not quite. She did not confidently offer statistics (in contrast to OP), regardless of their provenance. But, hey, what's with you, sneering at a heroine of the class war?
