Amazingly, RoI's results of RoI 0-1 Serbia, RoI 2-1 Bosnia and RoI 0-7 Germany, have seen them QUALIFY in second place, under head-to-head ruling, despite having comfortably the worst record of the three teams who each finished with one win and two defeats.

The other game finished with literally the ONLY scoreline (Bosnia 1-0 Serbia) that would see the Irish through! A win or draw for Serbia and they went through with 4 / 6 points, and a win with more than 1 goal scored took Bosnia through on the head-to-head.

Connolly's team now face England or Holland in the last 8.

Saturday.

Yes, sorry, Saturday at midday local time. AFAIK Eurosport are not planning to televise this one which is annoying, but it could change.

By winning the group England have done themselves a favour by avoiding Germany in the QF and France or Spain for the SF. Should they beat Ireland they will face Hungary or Turkey in the semi-final.

Silly old bat
Joel Latibeaudiere puts his penalty over, then Sergio Gomez converts so Spain are a spot-kick from the #U17EURO title.

Unbelievable how England imploded in this final. They ticked every box in the closing minutes:

1. Silly yellow cards.
2. Failure to keep the ball.
3. Conceding a last minute stupid corner.
4. Subbing our penalty takers, including our star striker, leaving us short in the shoot -out.

I've never been more certain of a winner of a penalty shoot out, our keeper was in tears after his gaffe from the last minute corner.
