Nice reference - if it pops its going to leave a lot of people very out of pocket.
My concern it's those who can afford it least that'll be most effected.

I'm grateful to have taken out my initial investment so everything else is just fun and I'll never be out of pocket.

Mad that I checked my wallet this morning and I had made £800 in my sleep.. or will have if I cash out. Until then it's all magical internet money! But as long as you don't put in more than you can afford to lose, and are aware of the huge risks, then it is rather good fun,

Been noticing the price going up a lot lately. I think it's the highest ever now and has gone up nearly 10% today to close to $1500 each!

www.preev.com has the price [EDIT: hmm actually the price might be a glitch on that site as it's shown as $1350 in other places...I just noticed a big jump so maybe it's not accurate at the mo]

I received a partial refund from a Chinese company in bitcoins about 18 months ago...about 10 of them. They were worth £3000 (seems a lot but I had sent them a bank transfer of a lot more than this) and they have now almost quadrupled in value!

I wonder how high it will go?? All I know is there is a limited amount that can be created so they can't really be deflated too much. I did read that it was predicted to end up on a price of $2000 by the end of the year but this was just some article and someone's opinion.

**** me dead...!!

7 trading days ago, someone posted at $90 for Litecoin, this is due a rise. How did that person 'know' this or was it a total guess at that stage?

$90 to $279 in 7 days is some going!

It's a huge spike. People will claim they've studied the numbers but it's probably nothing more than a guess.

The £250 I put into LTC a few weeks back was £5,000 when I checked it last night.

Might be wise to take enough out before Xmas to a) pay for Xmas and b) run a quick check that wherever you're holding them is still processing withdrawals properly and doesn't conveniently claim to have been hacked. Don't be mesmerised by the numbers. There's still real money involved. Or should be.

Just saying like

Indeed, for someone to get rich, someone needs to get poor.

Wow, we'll make a socialist of you yet!!!

socialism is the other way round. take someones million making them poor, then give a million people £1, but they aren't rich. in the process working capital is destroyed, so you have to go and tax everyone o get money to build anything substantial.

That isn't strictly true, is it? If a million people each gave me £1, none of them would be significantly poorer, but I would be significantly richer.

I can see your point, but I think you have rather shown your Tory credentials yet again.

Wise words mate,

TBH I've taken my initial deposit out and now so I'm in the game for free. I might take out a grand for Xmas and then I know whatever happens I made a nice sum.

Despite the silly gains I'm not greedy, I have a number I'll cash out at but if I lose it all before then so be it. It's not real money until I withdraw it so I'm not getting attached. Finding the whole thing a rather enjoyable distraction TBH, but if the car breaks down I'm out! [emoji23]

I don't think many people have stopped at a £1 investment though. There will be casualties.

Ouch - for some!

Bitcoin continues to give its investors a volatile ride. This week it has lost more than a third of its value from its record high of nearly $20,000.

On Friday, the cryptocurrency's price fell below $11,000, according to the Coindesk exchange website, before recovering to about $12,000.

This puts it on track for its worst week since 2013.

Bitcoin has had a blistering trip over the past 12 months. Its price at the start of the year was $1,000.

Bitcoin dipped below £5000 today, amazing fall since it hit £15000 in mid December. Another failed ponzi scheme

Markets plunging too, could be time for the long overdue readjustment.
