If it was possible, do you think this would be popular amongst fans.
Specifically games up north.
For those who don't remember them, these were very popular in the late 70s. Others may
remember the special to Cardiff for the play offs.
Would you pay £70, for example, for a return to Brighton?

I take it you are referring to the old football special trains that the Albion used to charter back in the day?

Would I pay £70? depends where it was to, Selhurst Park, no. St.James Park, yes possibly! Cant see them coming back though in all honesty.

Yes, I was referring to that.
And yes, only talking about Manchester, Liverpool etc.

One broke down once on the route to Nottingham Forest (79?), which was a blessing in disguise as we were absolutely rammed in the away end.

You'd get people moaning about catching it at Btn/BUG/HH instead of East or West. Wanting to use 152 different types of discount cards and a time that suits.
Early booking with TV changes too.

Not with the 3rd class coaches that were used in the Seagull Special days, and certainly not if Southern were in charge of running the train, as at best it would arrive in time to hear the final whistle.

It would also need to compete with the advance ticket prices that are available to those that are willing to gamble that the game doesn't get moved for TV coverage.

So a no from me
