I don't know if anyone can help with this, but Bernie Dawes, one of our oldest living supporters, and erstwhile programme seller for many a year, does anyone know how he is?

He finally hung up his programme selling hat a couple of seasons ago, so don't see him at games now. You could always be sure of a good lively exchanges of views with Bernie! Knew him mainly from our Withdean days when we would chat for a while outside the old South Stand before the gates opened.

Until very recentky he always still stood by his programme kiosk talking to the now programme seller.

Thinking of old characters anybody remember in the 60s at the Goldstone a fellow who used to walk around the touchline prior to matches with a sandwich board stating doom and gloom followed by his Irish wife who when the Police (no stewards in those days) tried getting him off used to shout at them that he had done nothing wrong in a very broad accent.

Glad to hear it. Thankful too, that he is still around to celebrate the amazing events of yesterday. I remember sharing a long coach trip to Hartlepool with him many years ago. Where we travel to next season is going to be so much different!
