Things could have been so different if people up and down the country who normally vote labour would have voted against him in the leadership election. Looks like another 5 years of the torys unfortunately

Just listening to PMQ's and poor old Mrs May has got the hang of the old " Strong and stable leadership " line... can she learn another one in the next 5 weeks as its boring already.

Home office says one thing, your lawyer friend says different. I can't claim to know more than either of those parties - I was merely pointing out what was the Home Office guidance, which was much more friendly to foreign nationals than the Telegraphs scarier headline,
Whether the Home Office is right, or your lawyer friend (bearing in mind that lawyers are traditionally cautious) turns out to be right, only time will tell...............good luck to your gf's mum anyway.

Oh I know - no criticism was intended. And you're right to say that lawyers are traditionally cautious. The consequences of not being allowed to stay were simply far too high for her to contemplate, even if the risk of such consequences being realised are negligible, that she decided to follow the cautious advice she was given. I can understand why she did, that's all I'm saying - negligible isn't zero; s'all.

Not at all. Just using a comparison to point out the flaw in your argument. As far as UK elections/referendums are concerned, the four individual countries do not have special status; they are the UK, and the results affect the whole of the UK, without an option for minorities - be they countries, cities, or dissenting groups of individuals - to pick and choose which bits to go along with.

By the sound of today's PMQ's It seems we are electing a dictator, lot's of " a vote for me will mean.....etc etc ".....as for the retiring Tory MP'S some of their grovelling attempts to cement a place in the Lords are gut-wrenchingly sycophantic .

If that plays out then a loss of 130 seats will mean the end of Labour for a very long time !
