Same here, only it was a life saver that we remembered where our car was parked. Four of us, all shirted up respectfully making our way back to said car when we heard a cacophony of grunting noises. These happened to be emanating from a group of about fifteen upset Hereford fans. I don't like to run, as it gives our fans a bad press, but on this occasion, as the four of us wouldn't have made one good one, we ran as fast as we could. As we turned around the corner in to the car park, it was replica shirts off, and stuffed up tee-shirts. We slowed down to a walk and started whistling innocently. The Rock-Apes in pursuit appeared from around the corner and carried on running still looking for their pray. After they were a safe distance away, we got in the car and drove out of the car park. We saw a Brighton fan running for his life too, so stopped the car, dragged him in, and took him to the station. All in all, it ended very well.

We got chased for the only time at football and ran to join the main Brighton group being escorted. Got there just in time to see the 2 girls on a first floor balcony respond, very kindly, to the shout "Get your t*ts out for the lads". The pair of them got a great cheer!

Probably a decent distance for you in those days. Shame Strava wasn't invented yet, you'd have owned a segment for decades.

Tony Agana, I think. He had a decent scoring record and, despite being five years past his best, was probably too good for division three. I remember feeling absolutely certain he would score and amazed when he didn't. We were as porous as clingfilm away from home that season.
Agana was playing that day but think it was a player called Foster. Just tamely chipped it to the keeper. My heart didn't beat for a few seconds.

Correct. Adrian Foster had the miss at the end. Agana had a header that went just past the post

We were talking about this very moment today. Heart stopping even though the beer and adrenaline had the old pump at a speed disco 180 bpm. Still the most visceral football experience EVER. That day at Edgar Street was the end of the beginning and Monday will (hopefully) start a new chapter in this wonderful club's history.

I was in the Edgar Street stand in the home section, well I say home I reckon 50% of us in there were Brighton.

Was that the stand along the touchline, with the Brighton fans behind the goal to the right? If so, I was in there with you :)

LOADS of Brighton in there and I have to say the Hereford fans I encountered in there at the final whistle were pretty gracious in defeat. Mental day, never to be repeated.

was such an amazing day. by far the most amazing game I have ever been too for intense atmosphere. I stayed in a pub/hotel that night in the center of Hereford. I went out had plenty of beer on my own whilst trying to hide the big smug grin across my face. was quite a few folk of that town crying into their beers that night. I just wanted to party. I almost paid for a taxi to ledbury as I heard a lot of brighton fans were staying there.

That's the one, we were upstairs.

Horrible, tense game not pleasurable in the slightest, just relief at he final whistle that we'd survived.

I was in the home end and during the game I was told if I got my camera out again I would be thrown out, from where I sat could have got some good action shots.

That's Lord B with what looks like a blond rinse, there, isn't it? I recognise the woman to his left, too. I have a photo from the centenary dinner with her very excited to be stood next to Gary Hart :lolol:

I've wondered if it was Lord B for years. Ironically, at the time my brother lived with my parents only about a mile up the road, which in the countryside counts as near neighbours.

And time for the mystery woman to step forward, methinks. My centenary dinner photos are top Q, as I was mistaken for the official photographer and allowed to roam freely, and have close ups of all the presentations, and a cracker of Norm laughing at me after I fell A over T. All analogue unfortunately so I'll have to scan. One day . . . .

Shame we never had phones with cameras in those days
Have no photos what so ever of goldstone or away games in 70s & 80s
Taking a camera to a game of football was something I never thought of at the time, would love to have some photos of those great days to go with the memories

I used to see her at nearly every game for a number of seasons. Haven't seen her in years...

I was in that stand too, with 3 friends (but "downstairs"). I don't remember it being a home section though. Surely it was all Brighton fans wasn't it?

I'm standing very close to you as you took the second picture, but annoyingly I'm out of picture! For some reason, I wore a New York Cosmos football shirt that day (bright green Pele era) so easy to spot in the crowd!

What a day, so many mixed emotions.

Carrying on the theme of walking into a possible warzone, remember the group of us (12) walking back to the minibus parked at the cattle market - coming from the other end first were some young teenage lads (spotters) and then a sizeable group of Hereford lads most definitely 'up for it' We slowed slightly, but then from behind us a large group of Albion lads thundered past and cue the scraps!!!

The warzone that day was a throwback to the 70's. For my lads, two teenagers and a 9 year old, it was experiencing a bit of the past on the day that we made further history. It was overcast and humid, there was the clatter of the helicopter and the many sirens in the background. The walk to the station was 'under suspicion' - no colours to be seen (although thinking back there was loads of blokes in shorts, probably a big giveaway of being from Brighton).
