Not so. I was on the pitch at Newcastle that day after the game along with hundreds of Albion supporters.

Yes, I agree it did happen. I was there too with many 1000's of the 10,000 away fans later crowding on and in front of the old St.James's Park main stand. Horton, Mullery and everyone else coming out to celebrate with us from the directors box.

The TV footage showing no pitch invasion was earlier, just after final whistle.

It's a reasonable idea in theory, not backed up by previous experience and still spoils the moment for the players who generally end up having to fight their way back to the dressing room before they lose most of their kit.

Not really. Personally, I'd have still preferred not to have had to watch the celebrations on the big screen and I'd bet there will be players who wish they'd been able to keep the shirt they wore on the day that might be the greatest of their career. But there you go. Great day which won't be spoilt by sad little digs like that.
