Standing in the terraces the game we SMASHED Peterborough in our 'cup final' that year we blitzed League One, I could see the AMEX on the horizon and it all looked bright. Then seeing that 97th odd minute goal from the East Stand against Donny cemented it, we were on our way by hook or by crook.

If we are breaking this down into a book I've just scribbled down some ideas for chapters

1 Pre 1953 (I'm way too young for this but include famous moments up to this point and the Charity Shield)
2 1953 - 1963
3 1963 - 1971
4 1971 - 1975
5 1975 - 1983 - The Glory Years
6 1983 - 1987
7 1987 - 1994 - The Gory Years (Decline)
8 1994 - 1997 - The War Years
9 1997 - 1999 - In Exile
10 1999 - 2004 - Nomadic Glory Years
11 2004 - 2009 - Coasting in League 1
12 2009 - 2014 - The Bloom Revolution - Opening of the AMEX
13 2014 - 2015 - Teething problems
14 2015 - Present - The second revolution

I'm going to second the shout for the appointment of Steve Gritt as the turning of the tide.

I forgot about this little moment. Probably the most significant of the lot.

Bloom authorizing the signing of Vicente with Poyets vision and ambition

This...And the subsequent signing of Ulloa who scored the goals in the end of season wins to put us in the playoffs (2013 I think)

Not when the corner turned was confirmed when we got promoted, at Home Park. That was a stunning day. Soon to be 'Championes'. Not even when we won our first game of the season 6-1, with Freeman getting 3. No, for me the day when the end ended and the beginning began was the pre-season friendly before the Mansfield game. It was a sellout. WTF? And the dead shall rise up, and crawl from the mud, blinking with astonishment to be alive.

Some needless pedantry -
Mansfield didn't score in the opening League match at Withdean, it was 6-0

The day I saw this:

IMG_6426.JPG

Who in their right mind would honestly believe, looking at Withdean, that one day we would really be playing in a stadium like THAT!? It was like a dream coming true.

And then they started building it, and we all watched it get put together piece by piece every day. It wasn't just a pipe dream, it was actually happening. Brighton was going to have a new home, worthy of the Goldstone legacy.

Have a lot of love for Falmer, every time I walk the dog in Stanmer I can't but help but have a look at it for a second.

The friendly against Aberdeen preceding Gus's first full season. I couldn't believe some of the football we were playing.

Some way some how just yes. I think I did. Weird thought but I just felt here we go.

I think tonight's thread about Paul Welch answers this question in the most poignant way possible.
