There are better countries to visit in South America, but Chile is perfectly lovely. Just don't go to Paraguay, there's nothing to do there at all.

Saltos del Monday is a spectacular waterfall that would be a major tourist destination anywhere else in the world. It's only unheard of because it's just down the road from the way more impressive Iguassu Falls.

And Itaipu Dam is worth a look for anyone who likes mega-scale man-made objects (although to be fair it's just a big lump of concrete to anyone who doesn't).

But, yes, in general Paraguay ain't really top of the tourist pops...
