Dunky or Keane

Keane had an excellent game and deserves another chance on Sunday.

That said, *if* we go up and *if* Dunk can keep up his form, he'll surely be in the squad within 12 months. England have been missing a specialist left-sided centre-half ever since John Terry dropped out of the team.

The answer is probably yes as I believe when we get promoted this year he will be called up next year as will Stockdale and they will replace Keane and Heaton.

How much money are you prepared to bet me on that - England call-ups for both Dunk and Stockdale? Really?

The envy and resentment (against Burnley) of SOME Brighton fans amazes me.

The goal difference argument is flawed given the way Boro shut up shop knowing a draw was good enough.

Actually I can see both Dunk and Keane playing for England but Dunk will really have to improve his disciplinary record before this happens.

Keane is yet to be in a side that has won away from home, this season.

Dunk has and has scored the winner away from home.

All pretty meaningless as Stato seems to have nailed this thread.

Keane plays way ahead of his age in terms of composure and intelligence. As some of you on here might know we've spent many a game camped in our own 18 yard box and he's certainly been tested continually this season. Most Burnley fans accept he'll leave in the summer and it's a case of how much we can get for him, he'll leave with a standing ovation from many having been a cracking player.

I do wonder how he'll fare in a side which is less defensively organised and without a left footer playing next to him. I think having Mee alongside him has really helped him develop as a player. I've not seen a great deal of Dunk but as some have mentioned on here, his discipline can be an issue or seems to be from the games I have watched. You'll see whether he's a Prem player next season though when you boys are playing in it!

Good post.

If it had been last season or even the early part of this one, I'd have opted for Dunk, but Keane has clearly benefited playing at a higher level and probably edges it now.

As to whether we'll be playing in it, let's see....

Keane should have had TWO goals at the Amex.:)

Perhaps, but would your equaliser even have happened if the ref had done his job and sent off Barton.

Yes, I know I bite every time, but that and the Stephens sending off really hurt...... even now.

Far more likely that over time Dunk will replace Cahill who alongside the other two looks slow and labouring.

I agree. I thought it was really noticeable last night when either Cahill or Smalling were on the left side and they still tried shifting the ball to their right foot..even when it would have been easier to play out with their left.

Keane is a level above Dunk

Dunk has the potential but makes too many silly mistakes he needs to cut out

Dunk is not a novice anymore. He has a number of regular seasons under his belt and I am starting to be a little concerned that he doesn't seem to be able to maintain his concentration levels for long periods. Sure, he plays the captain courageous role, throwing his body on the line, right left and centre and has clearly improved in carrying the ball forward and passing, but there are regular moments of craziness that make you scratch your head in bewilderment.
The PL will find him out for sure and whether he can step up to a higher level.

Maybe he finds the Championship too easy so switches off and that is when the mistakes come?

It has been pointed out else where the number of bookings he has this season would be a worry, how will he cope against players like Augero, Costa, Kane etc - even the lesser PL strikers are much better than the players he is fouling now.

It's not the fouls that are the problem, it's the attitude to the officials afterwards.

If you took foul and abusive language out of Dunk's game, we wouldn't be waiting for the 3 game ban to drop.
