Confirmed as Derby County new manager until the end of 2018/19 season,
Let's hope he does a job over Huddersfield.

Is that their 4th manager of the season (accepting that Powell was temporary)?

In terms of their recent managers Clement, Mclaren, Pearson and Powell may have faults but they can't all be shit. Just look at Clement at Swansea. Add in all this 'The Derby way' bellendery and it would suggest an owner whose ego has overtaken his mind.

Hopefully Rowett will put them right by Huddersfield.

Good appointment and good for us if we go up. Makes it more likely Derby will take points off Huddersfield.
His sacking at Birmingham is the worse managerial decision of the season.

I bet he's just hoping he lasts more than 6 months!

For those interested here is an excellent analysis of his tactical approach which may not be immediately successful at Derby.

Not convinced he's that great, but best of luck to him vs Huddersfield.

The problem with managers getting a large payoff means they do not say what the real problems are, and bad owners keep reeling new suckers in

His first job will be to unite a split dressing room, something McClaren and Clement both couldn't do.

Players coming in on big money, other players apparently on far less money and massive ego's aplenty.

      Good luck with that one

Rowett did a fantastic job at Birmingham but I can't help but wonder if his stock has risen beyond his abilities.

After all what he did actually achieve. Yes they were over performing and he may have got them into the play offs. But equally they could have drifted off into mid table and then no one would have been interested. By being sacked after being perceived to do a good job he has possibly falsely elevated himself a level.

Will be interesting to see how it develops. He certainly deserves a good crack at it and on paper will have better players than he did at Birmingham.

Given he possibly had his pick of the clubs available Derby is an interesting choice. Norwich may have been a better bet.

Yes it is good that Rowett has been appointed at Derby and I would like to see a similar appointment at Norwich so the town get more of a game from both !
