Wood / Case / Hyypia

Liam Brady wasn't much cop either, take away the hype and the lickers love in and there wasn't much there
All this talk of Sami reminds me of how well Oscar did with an average squad. Every team above us gave away points leaving Albion in contention and then sneaking in to the play-off semi-final that they didn't in all honesty deserve. I think it left a false impression of the strength of the squad and allowed Burke to make some horrid recruitment decisions. When you think of a midfield that only 2 years ago that included the likes of JFC, Crofts and Ince - then add Colunga and a reliance on the fading (but ever willing) Greer and Calde then that squad needed major investment. I can't lay all the blame at Hyypia's door because I don't know if he was promised things that weren't forthcoming but my greatest memory of him is him shuffling his feet, arms folded, at Wolves when we were actually giving one of our best performances of the season. He just didn't seem to interact with events on the pitch. I thought some of the football under Oscar was a boring as can be but Sami took it to another level. We were going down.
Lording it in WSL
I only saw a couple of Sami's games (fortunately) but I'm surpised nobody's nominated Barry Lloyd.
OK he got us to the playoff final (where we didn't turn up) but he was a very poor manager. I have this on good authority from the writers for Gulls Eye.
And they were right.
If history teaches us anything, it is that history teaches us nothing
