Sometimes, there are things that are more important than football, and this is one of them. Wishing him the best for recovery, and kudos to the medical team for finding out about it early, instead of risking another Fabrice Muamba/Antonio Puerta situation

Not speculately but people can have congenital heart defects for years without being detected.

Not really; I had heart surgery at 17. Can happen to anyone, at anytime.

Your right my little girl had heart surgery at 7 weeks old.
Exactly what screening is there for, hope the treatment and recovery goes well and he has a speedy recovery.

You can have a heart condition at any age, I lost a mate at 20 due to complications after he had an operation on his heart for a condition he'd had since birth.
