STARKEY JOINS SWINDON TOWN

Brighton & Hove Albion under-23 midfielder Jesse Starkey has joined League One side Swindon Town on undisclosed terms.

The former Chelsea youngster has agreed a contract with Swindon until June 2018, and like Rohan Ince, who moved there on loan earlier today, will be eligible for his debut this weekend at Oxford United.

Under-23 coach Simon Rusk commented, "This is a great opportunity for Jesse and one he's worked hard for over the past three-and-a-half years with the club.

"Ultimately, his aim was to break into the first team here, but this move still represents a significant achievement for him.

"His challenge now will be to force his way into the first team at Swindon Town, and on behalf of everyone at the club, I would like wish him well in that aim."

Starkey joined Albion from Chelsea's academy in 2013, and has been a regular in the under-21s and under-23s ever since.

This season he's played 16 times, including four appearances in the Checkatrade Trophy, and scored two goals.

Should have done what the Beatles drummer did - changing his name made him a huge success. So instead of Jesse Starkey we would have had Jingo Starr. Now that's a name to wear on the back of a replica shirt.

Hopefully our last bit of business this window, we can now breathe a little easier, another striker on loan but otherwise business as usual for the seniors, sometimes a modest performance is a good one.
