Interesting group this one containing as it does a considerable number of debutantes. Perhaps not the most glamorous of groups but a fascinating one none the less as none of the beasts (apart from one) have any real history or baggage, leaving us with a blank canvas, a level playing field and a cornucopia of opportunity for the competitors. As such it's vital that anyone who nominated or seconded these beasts backs them consistantly and well.

Remember, we're looking for the hardest creature. Many factors make up hardness but key (for me at least) is aggression and the ability to both give and take punishment.

So, without further ado, the group B competitors:

Alligator Snapping Turtle

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alligator_snapping_turtle

We kick off group B with our first debutante. If the WHC was decided on looks alone this beast would be in with a real chance of taking the title. Just look at it. It looks like the offspring of a teenage mutant ninja turtle(probably Michelangelo) and a dinosaur. But is it just looks? Well, it's a carnivore which is always a good start...it means it has to kill for dinner. It has a pretty nasty bite- it can snap a broom handle and is able to take a humans finger clean off. I'm not sure how aggressive these things are but then again, looking like they do, they probably don't need to be overly aggressive. Just a stare should do the trick.

Seagull

SEAGULL_3008471b.jpg

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gull

Seagulls. Inextricably linked to the worlds greatest football team. They scavenge any food, aren't scared of anything and shit wherever they want.

Racer Snake

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colubridae

Another debutante. I'm not too sure what a racer snake is. Wikipedia doesn't seem to think they exist. The closest they got was the link posted above. As such, I've got nothing to say about them. Whoever nominated and seconded them needs to step up to the plate here...

Mantis Wasp (Mantispidae)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantispidae

The third tournament newbie of the group. They hunt. They eat spider eggs. They may do other stuff, I'm not sure. Wiki doesn't give me much to go on. I'm sure they looked more impressive in the nominations thread so again, whoever nominated and seconded them needs to come up with the goods for them.

Jaguar

Our fourth debutante and an impressive one. The Jaguar is an apex predator with an incredibly powerful bite that allows it to bite through the hard, armoured shells of reptiles. It's bite is so powerful that it has a unique killing method-biting through the skull of its prey, crushing the brain underneath. It is an adept runner, crawler, swimmer and is capable of climbing trees. It hunts animals up to three times its body weight.

Cassowary

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassowary

The Cassowary is a popular combatant who always flatters to deceive. It has plenty of vocal support but struggles once it gets down to the nitty gritty of the knockout rounds. It needs little introduction: it looks mental, is generally shy but when provoked far enough goes crazy and will launch a wild attack at its victim, flinging itself forwards and trying to eviscerate its victim with its long, curved sharp middle claw/toe. Should stroll through the group.

Praying Mantis

The preying mantis looks like an insect monk. But unlike (most) monks they are ambush predators and indulge in sexual cannibalism.

Black Rhino

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_rhinoceros

This big beast typically weighs up to 1,400kg and possesses a rock hard, sharp double horn on top of its head. The front horn is usually about 50cm in length but can grow up to 1.5metres. It's a highly aggressive beast and will charge any and everything it perceives to be a threat. They will fight each other and are the animal with the highest mortality rate from combat. It's estimated that 50% off males and 30% of females die in combat.

Giraffe

_91074954_mediaitem91074953.jpg

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giraffe

Ah, the Giraffe. Has a long, muscular neck which it uses to establish hierachical dominance by bashing other giraffes with it. After said 'necking' battle the giraffes nuzzle and court each other, often ending up in mounting each other.

Walrus

maxresdefault.jpg

This massive, long toothed beast is our final debutante of group B. Not overly aggressive it will nevertheless give the only two beasts who are brave enough to attack it(the polar bear and killer whale) a heck of a battle. It's no foregone conclusion who wins a polar bear walrus battle, and bearing in mind the polar bear is a three time WHC champion, that's no mean feat.

An added bonus of the Walrus is that it is iconic in the pop world, being the subject of a classic Beatles track and being known as the Barry White of the animal love kingdom...

The turtle should get it on looks alone. I can't believe it isn't harder than it looks.

Racer Snakes are ****ing awful. A huge group of them couldn't take down a NEW BORN Iguana. Pitiful. The fact they habitually hunt after a BABY in a pack kinda ruins their cred.

Mantis is decent. Looks mental too. Should go far.

As Sir David Attenborough said: 'The killer of killers'. You got to be hard to kill another predator the same size or bigger than you and then to top it of, crush it's skull in your jaws.

This group is very weak.

I'm going for the seagull, they always look like they're spoiling for a fight.
