Sean Rowe - 'New Lore'. Another folky act but this time much more downtempo, bluesy. He's been around for yonks and every album just gets better and better. There's a couple of faster tracks on the album but he sounds at his best when keeping it Americana and slower. He has a wonderful deep rich voice too that just adds to the whole ambience. Highly recommended.

Last one from me tonight: Gonjasufi - 'Mandela Effect'.

I'm a huge Gonjasufi fan, he pushes all my buttons with the way he pushes his musical boundaries. Every track he writes seems to brood and menace, he has quite a dense mainly electronic sound but he's not afraid to go heavy on the guitars and at times it's almost shoe-gaze with loads of layers and I can spend ages listening and re-listening to tracks and discovering something new each time.

There's a new Gorillaz track out featuring Mavis Staples. The blues-y gospel sound (Algiers, Rag N Bone Man, Michael Kiwanuka et al) is very in right now and this track seems to be cashing in on that.

They've been superb the last couple they've visited Brighton and are back at Green Door Store in May.

This is the only track I can find on YT at the mo, it's a bit of a straight up punk thrasher, the rest of the album has far more in the way of dynamics

Have to say the title did intrigue me. Was keen to see them (Melt Yourself Down are playing that night as well), but have committed to a trip to Birmingham on Saturday, and will hopefully have plenty to smile about.

It (the FJM album) is quite something in parts but I can't help but think he's copying John Grant and Ben Fold's styles when he is being very good and there is a lot of virtue-signalling across the board from a bloke who seems to revel in being a bit of a tosser in real-life.

Gonjasufi is fantastic isn't he? I have ordered this new album but it's not arrived yet. Really looking forward to it.

Tashaki Miyaki - 'The Dream'

Don't think Resident have this at the moment but the album is available on Bandcamp and it's well worth checking out. They're an LA two-piece with some lush guitar riffs that Jesus and the Mary Chain fans will appreciate and gorgeously languid vocals that wouldn't be out of place in a Mazzy Star album. My new favourite album at the moment.

The new Happyness album 'Write In' is a far more serious affair than previous albums and they really go for it with some great guitar led tracks not least the first track off the album 'Falling Down' which has a glorious start to it with a guitar solo to die for.

For my money the best live act in the UK right now. I suspect this album is going to be absolute gold.

Sneaks - It's a Myth

Sneaks is Eva Moolchan who makes music using a drum machine, a bass guitar and her voice (with the occasional synth thrown in). Previous LP clocked in at 13 minutes and this one continues the minimalist, repetitive, fragmentry nature of her work by spreading 10 songs over 18 minutes. Very post punk influenced with a large dollop of ESG.
