I am worried by all extremists whatever colour, race, political ideology etc.

But it's interesting that the op wrote racist comments about the royal family the other day.

I see two hands raised and a bunch of people clapping. Personally i'm not triggered by a minuscule amount of people making a dick gesture.

There you go, you can do it!

Fair enough. Perhaps, you're right but it is very much understandable why people get their knickers in a twist with regard to stuff like this.

I genuinely don't understand the mentality of someone who makes that salute, if I were part of a movement that has far right tendencies, I would be doing absolutely everything in my power to avoid being seen as Nazi. It's the brazenness of this that worries me.

Depends what you call far right really?

Far right is sometimes the Conservatives or UKIP but equally the far right also describes Hitler and fascism.

They are not the same but are tarred with the same brush.

Right wing is not fascism.

If politics is indeed moving further to the right then it is the failings of the left and liberalism that has led it that way. People have genuine concerns about the culture of their country changing, off the rise of extreme islamists and immigration in general. Those voicing that concern would do well to listen to it rather than ignoring it and leaving a massive gulf that more extreme far right politics can then fill.

Because of the left leaning media is why. They will report this small meeting as the second coming of the Third Reich yet be as kind and as sympathetic as they can when reporting on any left leaning groups. Despite it being openly obvious which groups are most openly engaged in violent behaviour.

This is what happens when the far left is allowed to run amok with little recourse. It says to other groups it's ok to spread extreme views openly.

Unfortunately it's now happening. The far right fascist (I don't buy the 'alt' disguise) movement now has power, and it could easily gain more momentum here if Farage gets more influence.

Obviously the left are worried, so I'm asking you UKIP and conservative voters on this board bothered by this?
Isn't everyone right of Jeremy Corbyn a fascists anyway?... why separate Ukip and the Conservatives from the BNP and EDL... they are normally thrown under the same blanket when discussed on these pages.

It is not just about a salute is it though.Listen to the speech (and the reaction in the room). These people could not be more overtly nazi if they wore little black toothbrush moustaches and began singing the future belongs to me. Yet the media insist on calling them 'alt-right' provocateurs. THEY ARE NAZIS. They are not ashamed of being Nazis. They are celebrating Trump. They see his victory as legitimizing their movement.

Trump does not condem them and in doing so he legitmizes them.

History tells us that the legitimizing of such views does not generally end well.

This is not good.

The far anything is a cause for concern. Centrist politics, while offering the status quo people seem to be so angry at, does at least tend to keep the lid on the nastier elements in society. Right now the threat from the far left is in abeyance. The threat from the far right is very much alive so in response to the OP, yes I am worried about it.

The problem is that simply condemning it doesn't seem to work, as recent elections have shown. We have to find some means of engaging with disaffected groups and persuading them that picking on "the other guy" is not a solution. Not at all easy and I have no immediate answers there. It's a lot easier to simply throw mud at anybody voicing far right views than to try and enter into some sort of dialogue with them but the results are there for all to see.

Anyone who is genuinely unconcerned (as opposed to posturing on here) about the polarisation of politics and the rise of extremist political and quasi-religious ideologies really should be. It's like JDB sang, if you tolerate this..... What I've observed of the post-Brexit and Trump win West is that if you give the perceived green light to bigotry and intolerance and then scratch the surface you'll be amazed by how many people who, if not openly supporting such views, are prepared to shrug their shoulders and say things like "yeah, well, they've had it coming" or "it might be a bit OTT, but at least people are saying enough is enough". I'm pretty certain many of the same things were being thought and said in 1920s and 30s Germany. After all, doesn't the quote go something like "all that it takes for evil to take hold is for good men to do nothing".

we are sleep walking into a new modern form of far right politics which has some resemblance to facisum it feels like the normalisation of the abnormal a reintroduction of a far right politics portraying a new acceptable face of the far right to the western world, I am not saying that Trump, Farage or many of the Tories are facists but they do appear to be spouting right wing ideas that upon their coat tails the facists can find a way back into politics and ultimately power.

All very worrying times

A bit over the top in my opinion. Could Brexit, Trump etc not be a sign that people had enough of previous decisions. The warning signs were there to see, unfortunately no notice was taken and the prospect of Brexit and Trump winning was laughable/ignored etc.

Woah woah woah there, interesting take on the nationalist irony you've taken.

"Surely it's part of the maintenance bill? Let the immigrant inbreds pay for it themselves." If you think I was being racist you've missed the point entirely.

We haven't been sleep walking but we have been nurturing the climate for this to happen for many years cheers to socialist leftie politics that have pushed people over to the right! Well done!

Time will tell I guess. I'm not saying that the status quo was ideal, far from it - the Western Neoliberalism was / is a force of socioeconomic evil in itself, and the wars waged in its name the catalyst for the rise of fundamentalist Islam. Change is needed, I was just hoping for a more humane ideology to triumph rather than the very real prospect of several of the major Western powers becoming run by neo facists.

Please note, I am NOT comparing what is going on at the moment to Nazi Germany but an awareness of history is fundamental here.

You are I assume aware that people had 'had enough' in Germany in 1933 as well. Hitler seemed a reasonable alternative in the 1933 General Election to the 43.91% that voted for him. Within months, the Reichstag had been disbanded. Fascism didn't creep up in Germany, it turned up promising the world and MONTHS later it was too late.

You mean liberal politics. We haven't had a socialist in charge of this country for nearly 40 years.

Socialist: A governmental system that advocates community ownership and control of all lands and businesses rather than individual ownership.

Liberalism: Liberals believe in government action to achieve equal opportunity and equality for all. It is the duty of the government to alleviate social ills and to protect civil liberties and individual and human rights.

Personally I find it abhorrent to see one person making that salute, it being representative of a period in history which saw the attempted state sponsored, systematic eradication of an entire group of people.

It's disgusting to see people doing it.

Yes,the Roman Empire was pretty horrific, but I thought the forgiving folk of NSC might have forgiven them by now!:bla: tossers.jpg
