Has anyone ever done better with less talent than Vinnie Jones?

The OP is right - Jones is Mr. Mediocre. Birdwise, I've always thought Tess Daly has punched above her weight. Not a spark of life in the woman, she's a modern day Anthea Redfearn but with a microphone.

Graham Norton

Oddly I'm a closet Norton fan and I think he's exceptionally good in the chat show host role and streets ahead of Jonathan Ross.

Back to the thread topic - Daniel Craig. The bloke is just so wooden, as anyone who's seen either Munich or Defiance, or in fact just about any of his films will doubtlessly testify.

David Beckham ? couldn't tackle, head the ball or dribble but took every free kick and corner England had for about 8 years...... Michel Platini - 41 goals in 72 matches for France, David Beckham - 17 goals in 115 matches for England. Platini = fat French Bloke. Beckham = England Hero ...Er ?

So your point is that David Beckham isn't as good as one of the greatest European footballers of the last 50 years? Well, no obviously. Still a very fine player in his own right who made some major contributions to both club and country for over a decade.

It's not much to ask to be Englands best player for several years..... also.......

Beckham 265 appearances , 62 goals for Man Utd 1992-2003

Platini, 285 appearances, 156 goals for Nancy + St Etienne 1972-1982.

Looks like you have bought in to the hype too.

oh, career statistics, Beckham 523 club games, 97 goals

Fat French bloke, 432 club games, 224 goals.

Very odd argument.

Platini was an exceptional footballer.

Beckham was a very very good footballer. All the Madrid fans thought he was a pretty boy brought in to sell shirts when he arrived. They soon changed their tune. Likewise he went to Milan and people wrote it off as a bit of a jolly. Proved his worth there too. What other English man can say they've held their own in the Spanish and Italian leagues?

Why are you judging Beckham only against the goals he scored? He wasn't ever meant to be a goalscorer. Would like to see the number of assists he had in those games.

I had tickets for the group games at the world cup in 2006, and I've never seen a player work so hard for the team - so much so he ended up chundering on the pitch in one game. Meanwhile, Frank Lampard strolled around shooting tamely every time he got the ball. I guess Lampard was better in your eyes though as he scored more

One name sticks out as probably the worst footballer I've ever seen, worse even than Vinnie Jones or Karl Henry at Wolves and that name is Francis Benali. He played like a special needs adult who had won a competition to be on the pitch.

Vinnie Jones done well for himself, good luck to him.

Beckham was a winger, Platini was an attacking central midfielder who sometimes played the no.10 role. I seriously do not get this argument.
