Brexit: Lord Frost blames Theresa May for problems with Northern Ireland Protocol

Lord Frost tells members of the Northern Ireland Assembly that current issues with the Northern Ireland Protocol are "to a very large degree" the fault of negotiations under Boris Johnson's predecessor as prime minister. The protocol - agreed and signed by Mr Johnson and which replaced Mrs May's "backstop" - is designed to avoid a post-Brexit hard border on the island of Ireland and is a key part of the UK's divorce deal with the EU.

Lord Frost is seeking adjustments to the implementation of the protocol and told assembly members on Friday that it should not be looked at as a "sort of definitive text".

Mr Stalford quoted Mrs May's former chief of staff, Lord Barwell, who last month claimed Mr Johnson's government knew the protocol "was a bad deal" but intended to "wriggle out of it later".

It is totally unbelievable that Johnson and Frost are now claiming the Northern Ireland Protocol was somehow effected by Theresa May. Even though the Northern Ireland Protocol that they proposed, negotiated and signed off was their idea to specifically to replace Theresa May's Northern Ireland backstop and hadn't even been mentioned 'as a solution :lolol:' before Johnson came to power :dunce:

It's almost as if they are treating all their Brexit supporters with utter contempt looking at them as though they were complete idiots with the attention spans of goldfish ???

They need to take responsibility, then own it lock stock and barrel. Its their baby

I notice Starmer is finally laying into Johnson in today's Times accusing him of putting Irish peace at risk

Sadly nothing sticks to the slimy toad running the country, the " Oven Ready " deal had been shown to have been a can kicking exercise and the isiots who congratulated themselves on getting it over the line are suddenly perplexed that they actually have to implement some strict rules and protocols .....that they agreed to !... the wheels on the Brexit Bus are slowly coming loose day after day until the eventual and unavoidable crash arrives..... will Johnson have scuttled off by then and leave others to clear up his mess as usual ?

So once again it seems Brexit means paying huge amounts of money to retain the things we were previously able to do for free?

Absolute shambles. Who has noticed the reduction in immigration? Who has noticed the new opportunities for native Brits? Who has found the pound in his pocket goes further?

Brexit is the joke of the century. What have you got out of it?

Here's an extract.....

'We are governed, at present, by the most corrupt, inept and self-serving government I’ve had the misfortune to endure in my 58 years on this earth. Led by the uniquely unqualified Boris Johnson, the very definition of an incoherent narcissist (especially now that Donald Trump has been pushed off the world stage), Johnson and his Cabinet have absolutely no meaningful substance, as they are all in their jobs because of their deluded belief in the benefits of Britain leaving the EU.

These are benefits that are patently non-existent to anyone actually paying attention, rather than extolling the illusory virtues of cutting ourselves off from our nearest neighbours, with whom half of all our business used to be conducted in a frictionless manner that was the envy of all those excluded from its benefits.'

But we certainly got out of the EU. Well done us.
