All the negativity coming from the eurosheep about Unilever needs to be a bit balanced by the good bits they never mention,like jobs coming to the UK.Still,not long to go now,and maybe the whining will stop then!:lolol:

While skimming through the posts,I see some mention of VAT rates being 15% in the EU?

So just to get this right. If things are standardised across the EU it proves that power-crazed commissars are grinding down proud countries and if they are not it proves that the union is all over the place like a deranged person's poos.

The Leave narrative is looking ever more opaque this morning. Fort example we're hearing that Russia has attacked a sovereign nation whilst according to the Brexit boys we're merely a vassal state and won't be a sovereign country again until next year.

Meanwhile we're told that the whole EU is about to turn into a federal state whilst the same people are simultaneously informing us that proud countries from Italy to Hungary are about to precipitate the collapse of the whole thing.

Double cake-eatery, wherever you look.

Indeed,exactly what we have been saying since the referendum.All the eurosheep bleating about single market standards,everything must be the same,there can be no exceptions,is all a load of bolo.Glad you have seen the light,come and embrace the good side.Forward and forever upwards,all together in Brexit.

Paul Polman, the Unilever chief executive, however, told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme: “This is not about Brexit. The opposite is true.”

He said that the company remained committed to Britain and that two of the three new divisions, beauty and personal care and homecare, would have their headquarters in London. Keeping the two divisions in the UK would mean nearly £1 billion a year of continued investment in the country, Mr Polman said, including a significant commitment to research and development.

Unilever, which makes Marmite, Dove soap and Magnum ice cream, among a huge range of consumer products, employs 7,300 people in the UK and 3,100 in the Netherlands. No jobs will lost as a result of the changes.

I understand many people have committed much of their spare time to talking the UK down on this thread as well as forecasting impending doom but could the Remoaners on here please try to raise their game .. it's getting embarrasing.

Unilever's Public Affairs advisors had told them to remain Brexit-neutral - sensible advice in the circumstances. It has been suggested that Unilever - recently scarred by a hostile takeover bid of course - liked the look of Dutch takeover regulations. The U.K. has a Wild West attitude to hostile takeover bids by foreign companies and the philosophy of Britain's Brexit-driving politicians suggests that this is now very unlikely to change.

Brexit or not, it's always a blow to prestige when such a large company relocates it's Primary Listing overseas, but what's your opinion of the Mergers & Acquisitions climate in The Netherlands compared to here, as it appears to differ with both The Bloomberg piece and Lincoln Imps view?

Okay, forget raising your game lets go with doubling down. The Chief Executive of Unilever said the decision was nothing to do with Brexit, the opposite being true whereas you say he's only following PR advice and Brexit was a factor .... mmmmm who to believe. :rolleyes:
