It is predictably difficult and complicated. Extracting ourselves from the EU and 45 years of integration was never going to be straightforward or easy. As I said a few weeks after the vote we would probably end up with a deal where some on the leave side would end up unhappy claiming betrayal and some on the remain side unhappy claiming we are forever doomed. I am not fearful, that would only occur if I really thought those who are trying to ignore democracy/will of the people were going to succeed.

I still wouldn't claim to know what will happen though. Lots of twists and turns to come most of them being deliberately misinterpreted to suit arguments

You can be so hurtful

Still think we are heading for softest of soft negotiated Brexits, followed by the government not wanting to take responsibility for the economic implications of it, resulting in either second referendum or GE. (And of course, further extensions to membership all the while). At least we should find out the basics of what we are doing in the next 3 months, over 2 years after the vote. But as I said to Westdene Seagull, it's out of our hands, all we can do is wait and see what we voted for

Over a quarter of doctors are either Other EU or from outside the EU. Immigrants make up about 5% of the population. Think about that.

Your numbers are a bit whack

12.5% of NHS staff are non British
9% of the population are non British (2016)
14% of the population were born abroad (2016)

fairly representative of total NHS staff.

However, 36% of hospital doctors (25% Non EU, 9% EU) gained their primary medical qualification outside the UK.

Its essential we have a unified admissions policy (non EU and EU combined) to address shortfalls. Preferential status for EU nationals simply does not help meet demand.
A combined immigration system would allow any shortfall of doctor numbers to be addressed free from discrimination. Currently non EU doctors fill their visa quota limits and have to roll over to the next cycle, raising the number of visas available to incorporate EU nationals in the mix but giving no discriminatory preference to admittance would help sustain numbers.

Following on from the 'high-quality' level of debate on immigration ... Shirley all the Littleeurolanders are a 'bit' racist as they support continuing preferential treatment for mainly white Europeans while making it more difficult for the mainly non white rest of the world. Look forward to all immigrants being given equal fair status in Brexit Britain.

Anyway, It's a lovely day, royal wedding, cup final so must go ... Lataz Playaz or some such horrendous flouncy clamplesque exit :flounce: :D

What will happen if UK Working holiday visas are extended beyond Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, Monaco and Taiwan to allow young people from developing countries like Pakistan, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia etc to come and live, work and travel in The UK for 2 years? Will everyone be happy with that?

Funnily enough, I wouldn't have minded some sort of EU immigration controls, but all the time we were electing Nigel and his mob, to not turn up at the EU parliament and to not vote, we were were never going to get any changes.

You are not alone.
Three quarters of the population have wanted less immigration and tighter controls.
Overall control can only come by ending free movement.

Farage and his mob and the European parliament have no power to implement change to one of the fundamental principles of The EU, you are setting up a strawman by implying he could impose any sort of change to free movement and somehow missed an opportunity via his attendance.

5% seems a tad low. I would like you to tackle the nimbys over building on green belt. Anyway you veered off What you were stating. There was no mention on your high horse about the actual skiiled workers of which I have no issue with much to your annoyance. It's the economic unskilled migrants who have to be housed. I'd rather a NHS worker or ex armed forces are assisted before these

It might have nudged up to 6%. Average guess for British public is over 20%. One of the great misconceptions in the population.

We have skilled migrant quotas. Hit them all the time and turn people away. http://www.mondaq.com/uk/x/702420/employee+rights+labour+relations/Employment+Update+May+2018

Maybe you should get more people not to worry about this. You seem to be very much in the cake and eat it gang. Should a skilled migrant worker be allowed to bring family? What about unskilled people and come and do jobs Brits don't want?

NIMBYs are a problem. My favourite ones who live in houses on developments on the edge of villages that are ten years old but kick off when more are added. They are also classic cake and eat it gang.

Would you refuse treatment in hospital from an immigrant? Would you refuse blood because it might have come from an immigrant? Would you refuse to buy a house because it might have been built by an immigrant? Would you walk out of a restaurant if served by an immigrant? Would you burn in a fire rather than be saved by an immigrant fireman? Would you stop your kids being friends with an immigrant kid? Would you rather pay more for food rather than have it picked by an immigrant? Would you rather the streets were filthy rather than cleaned by an immigrant.

The fact is that without immigrants the NHS would be screwed, schools with immigrants do much better than those without, we have more people in work now than ever before. Basically we rely on immigrants.

Maybe I am biased because my dad's parents were from Slovakia and Poland and my dad served almost thirty years as an officer in the Royal Navy. Which makes me wonder, would you rather not have a military if it includes the children of immigrants?

Have a lovely day.

Can you explain to me where I have said I am a racist? Because only a racist or a moron would do the things you suggest. Let me explain something to you, I do not know anyone around here who is happy about having millions of Europeans just come over. They compete for jobs (mainly unskilled) whilst loads of our own kids cannot get jobs. They keep rents and property artificially high, they impact heavily on the nhs, they impact heavily on our own children's education. I see you live in Warwick, which I doubt is heavily effected by immigration. Try living in London and see how you like it. The West Indians who came over here in the 60s/70s are a group I hear complaining the most about the uncontrolled immigration as well as their children.
You really need to understand the difference between someone who is against mass immigration and a racist.

Why is it that areas with high proportion of immigrants voted to remain? London being a prime example. With the exception of a couple of. Famous examples such as Boston in Lincolnshire there is a strong correlation between likelihood to vote remain and immigrant population. http://theconversation.com/hard-evi...low-immigration-voted-mainly-for-brexit-62138

My son's best mate is a Slovakian lad who could not speak a word of English when he arrived here when he was 3. Now he is ten and one of best at reading and writing in the class. Excellent. Warwick and leamington (basically the same place) has a population of c100k and about 75% white British.

So while the teachers were busy helping this kid who couldn't talk a word of English to get him up to speed, what happened to the other kids in the class?

I would guess the vast majority got on with what they were asked to do, worked hard and were relatively successful.

There may have been a small minority that may have f***ed around, wasted everybody's time and then blamed their complete inability to take advantage of all the opportunities they were born into on 'the immigrant'.

If indeed they all started school at 3 years old

At the age of three, I imagine they were also learning English?

Haha. Go and look at education stats. You will have to trust me that this is my specialist subject. Schools with more immigrants typically do better. There are a multitude of reasons for this. In fact the highest performing schools in the country are in that immigrant free place London.

That lad was not taught English at school, his parents taught him. He had no extra help. He has it ingrained into him to work hard and take the opportunities available. It is quite a big thing to move to a new country and on average those moving will be hard working and do well.

I see as the Leave voters get more and more desperate they are now admitting to the real reason they voted out. Immigration.

Pffft, as if we didn't know already. Nasty pieces of work.

All of the leavers in the last 2 pages have insisted for the last 2 years that there were other reasons, but the moment immigration comes up, all of you are all over it, like tramps on chips.

This. I knew they'd lose their pretence given enough time.

Just because you and your kids can't get a job, doesn't mean the EU is broken. Try getting some skills maybe?

For the record I don't think you are particularly racist (the get out card of your mob "you're calling me racist therefore everything you say is invalid"), nevertheless you are as thick as shat in a bottle and clearly cannot think for yourself. You seem to buy the Daily Mail take on life, wholesale. It's a shame but people like you have destroyed this country. You are to blame, not immigrants.
