I really don't see why the fear of a Labour Government
Because - without getting into an argument over their brand of socialism for which there is clearly absolutely no appetite for in this country - the Labour party have misjudged the mood of the nation entirely. They are more concerned with demonstrating Tory incompetence for their own ends (calling a GE) than for the good of the country. It's nothing more than a power grab exercise for Labour.

If that wasn't the case, they'd have spent the last 12 months calling for a national unity Brexit cabinet or proposing clear, genuine Brexit alternatives (different red lines or perhaps a second referendum). But no, all they want is another go at being elected. They are as much a disgrace as the Tories.

That just about sums it up!

Could not disagree more please listen to the statement to the house Sir Kier Starmer this afternoon

However there is one point I do agree with and its Labour being out of step with the public and indeed this does look to ge the case but look at not what the Establishment tells us but what is really being said

The will of the people had a right to be heard, and we all know how that turned out. :shootself

Yes, Article 50 was triggered and the UK is currently planned to leave the EU at the end of March. However in a representative democracy if the will of Parliament is such that this should not be allowed to happen they can review and, if necessary, overturn the previous decision. No Parliament is bound by it's predecessor, and as such it would be well within it's right to act in whatever way it saw fit to fulfil it's role as legislature in this regard.

Is it just me who thinks the political landscape of this country was considerably better off when parliament was on it's Christmas break?

Who knows, I think UK politics right now is in such a state of flux that almost anything could happen, and things we don't see happening now might be the obvious answer in a week from now. This time last week I'd have said there was no possibility of Article 50 being rescinded before the 29th March, the last few days have changed my mind.

Unless you are saying you genuinely believe this country wants socialism, I'm confused as to which bit you disagree with. My entire point was that they are out of step with the public.

Keir Starmer is not in step with Jeremy Corbyn.

Bridgen then got to his feet to say: “Mr Speaker, I will apologise for my remarks if any offence was caused to any members of the House.”

Oh that's all right then, he must be a gentleman.... and of course Paddy Ashdown has been dead a full 18 days......
