Gods country fortnightly
I'd like to see some sort of profile of these specimens. I'd think one of the things that they have in common is a degree of financial security that will insulate them personally from any dramatic material negative consequences of Brexit. Their comfortable lives will continue. Would that we could say the same of the millions of Brexit voters in the economic wastelands of the country who are about to feel the chill winds of the post Brexit economic meltdown while those gentlemen (and ladies) in the ERG toast their 'success' in champagne. If we throw in a few newspaper editors and the likes of Mr A. Banks too we'd have the epicentre of Brexit and I suspect it wouldn't be a pretty sight.

Seems Mogg's Somerset Capital are already protecting themselves from an extreme Brexit by setting up a fund in Ireland. He's a smart cookie that Jacob...

Britain will be less safe after Brexit

Time to go it alone, I'm sure we can do it cheaper?

Just another price worth paying etc.

Parliament votes down the final deal expecting the government to renegotiate despite not having any idea what all the different Remain factions would agree on. The EU unsuprisingly says bog off/ take it or leave it and we hit the buffers.

If a no deal isn't a possibility in any circumstances can you explain why the Remain rebels are playing hardball trying to get a meaningful vote to veto a no deal and why the government are fighting to retain a no deal option?

They are politicians, they are doing this to play along with the naive and simple of mind who still think there are options

ie You :p

(And as for what all the Remain factions would want, the clue is in the name)

Galileo wont make us any safer, so not being involved wont make us any less safe. quite interesting how they dragged this programme in to the debate. it has shown the EU resolve to absolutely give nothing away, harm themselves to make a point. leaving the UK out will cost them time and money, they lose access to some key technology, expertise and listening stations off in remote corners. its a project thats already over budget, delayed and somewhat superfluous requirement, and many members would rather bin entirely.

Sounds like they need us more than we need them. You should have pointed this out before :lolol:

There are no Remain factions. It's status quo (that's Latin, you know. A language centuries older than English).

laugh it up, if you read the article and some of the background, you'd know that is very much the case with this project. we'll still be able to use it, just not involved in some of deep tech implementation, which being British will be problematic for them. the politics has trumped the practical delivery, and they didnt even need to make a decision yet. sacrificial lamb to make a point methinks.

But its nothing to do with Brexit. BT are cutting 13000 is that ???. These cuts are more for profits/ shareholder appeasement

Exactly what the Tories stand for. Leave is to benefit the rich, nothing more than that.

I can't recall seeing a profile of ERG members but here is what a random ten of them do. They are simply the first 10 names in an alphabetical membership list. Representative presumably.

Lucy Allan PWC accountant and investment manager, married to stockbroker.

Sir David Amess Underwriter, recruitment consultant

Richard Bacon Investment banker, financial journalist and PR consultant

Kemi Badenoch Software engineer (and confessed hacker!), lawyer, assoc director at Coutts

Sir Henry Bellingham Barrister, director of Longborough Capital, Environmental Polymer Technologies and Arc Fund Management

Bob Blackman BT employee

Peter Bone Accountant

Andrew Bridgen Owner of food produce company

Sir Bill Cash Solicitor

Simon Clarke Solicitor, assistant to Dominic Raab

Good to know you are all European empire federalists.
Im glad you know the difference about language though too, EU rules come in English too, is there a reason you didn’t get round to sharing the EU mechanism that would give us border control tomorrow, you went a bit quiet like all the others before you. You know the mechanism apparently that we are free to use to control our borders but don’t bother , the one that would permit the permanent implementation of quotas and a visa entry system, prior to arrival and remain in the EU. Perhaps you forgot as you were simply confused amongst the stench of your own lie.

Perhaps you would like to quote the post where you were told this, and who posted it.

There are immigration controls available to EU members that the UK could adopt (take a look at what Austria do), but nothing like you've described. Still, once you've found the quote and and posted it I should be able to help as to whether you have been naive to believe something stupid (yet again!) or a fantasist who has made it up.

Glad to have been of help

(and a simple quote would do, we wouldn't want screen captures )

We always had control of our borders. .

Controlling borders, happens unsurprisingly at the border, where are the mechanisms to control permission to come in prior to entry, the same mechanisms that we are able to use on non EU nationals
Chasing people up after they have already entered is not and never will be border control, but i doubt too many are stupid enough to believe that to be true........lets hope not anyway.

So you decided that
'We always had control of our borders'
means
'A mechanism that will permit the permanent implementation of quotas and a visa entry system, prior to arrival and remain in the EU'.

Fantasist.

(It's a UK decision not to record who comes through our borders - see Austria above)

You're welcome, glad to have been of service :)

Over budget, delayed and the U.K. provide the “key technology, expertise” ? Makes sense to kick you out and get more productive nations working on it.

Wrong answer, try again, they are not fantasy mechanisms
Its called border controls, we have these protocols available for non EU nationals. The EU has border controls on its external borders, never heard of the Schengen visa for entry?

I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree. I think you're a fantasist, you think you're naive - such is life

Quite telling you think visa controls and quotas dont exist on non EU nationals, remainers have always been a bit clueless on immigration though.

You see, your propensity to believe that you have read things that don't exist is one of the reasons why I went for Fantasist over Naive :lolol:

And it does show how desperately poor Egypt v Uruguay is that you are providing a more entertaining alternative
