It's customs checks on goods in HGV's though, rather than people. Have you ever seen Operation Stack in action and the disruption it causes Kent when the Port of Dover grinds to a halt? What would think an acceptable level of delay, 3 days?

It's precisely applying our own border control which is going to cost a lot of money, the fact of which this little exchange was about in the first place. It's you that has turned it in to a Leave/Remain emotive issue, making assumptions about how people are thinking that just aren't true.

It's not really about border control and immigration issues though - it's custom checks on goods. In the absence of a reciprocal Customs Union deal post-Brexit, if you were an exporter to The EU, would you think that your client base there would be happy with delays to orders? As I understand it, prior to Maastricht, some exporters factored in 3 days through customs delays for goods to reach their detestation within The EU. Incidentally, do you think an open border with The Republic of Ireland and The Good Friday Agreement being upheld is a good thing?

But then Phillip Hammond said the transitional arrangement would have to be one "protects the free-flow of trade across our borders and the integrity of pan-European supply chains."
I'm pretty sure it'll probably be okay though.
