No American re-make cobblers here. Many starring Michael Caine, when he's good he's very good, but he has made some right turkeys in his time. For sumptuous acting, Paul Scofield in a Man For All Seasons. The Guard I believe is an Irish film but hilarious with Brendan Gleeson starring, and Mark Strong as the cynical, sweary London baddie.

A surprisingly good watch was Kingsman: The Secret Service. Had it down as another poor James Bond effort before I watched it. Turned out to be an absolute blinder.
Anglo-American I believe. I'm claiming it for us Brits.

I agree. The same could be said of the Carry On fims, total smut, and with ham acting.
Incredibly though, they have plenty of fans.

Another vote for Locke - one man, one Range Rover, one motorway, many tonnes of fast pouring concrete, one extramarital affair and the delicious Tom Hardy, what's not to like? Criminally underrated film.
Generally like Shane Meadows and Considine, but Romeo Brass is gash imho.

I would still class it as an eye opener, a bit like Jenny Agutter was in Walkabout, which is another classic British film we can add to the list.

Forgot about The Full Monty, a very good film, especially the older guy who taught them to dance, he was brilliant.
I have seen him in a few things since, a very good actor.

I haven't seen it mention on here, pedants probably call it a "play" Mike Leigh's Meantime is an absolute work, Phil Daniels Tim Roth Gary Oldman Pam Ferris Alfred Molina Marion Bailey to name a few, I love it..... "It's mud" "I can see its mud!"
