Watched the highlights carefully now, so... well done Sam for the goal... definitely his goal...

If standing somewhere and the ball hitting you because a better player has attacked and won it in the air is the only means you have of "scoring" a goal, then congratulations. May he be so lucky in every game because there's certainly no quality there.

Claiming another own goal after the Bristol City game at the Amex last season. Desperation. Even Dunk didn't celebrate with him, knowing it wasn't his goal. Really bad sign that he would need to claim goals he didn't score.

I once claimed a goal in local footie that I was a mile away from and clear oggy. As a centre forward you claim everything!

Other people have noticed now, Baldock's a poor player at this level.

Baldock must realise the game is up. If Murray hadn't generously donated his penalty to Hemed (thereby temporarily saving THAT player's goal-less blushes) then Murray would already have equalled Baldock's total for all of last season - before the end of August! Baldock and Hemed to be fair are both instrumental in making things happen for Murray, but Murray and Knocky are currently the only players to back betting-wise if you're betting on an Albion goal. Hemed and Baldock are desperately scrabbling about to get on the scoresheet, exactly as they did last season. They work damn hard for the team, and respect for that, but neither IMHO is a natural born striker. We're still a player short in that department.

I think you and a fair few others are very unfair on Hemed. He scored 17 last season, what does he have to do to convince people? If he chips in with another 15 whilst Murray is getting his customary 20+, what wouldn't be to like?

In the first half of the season, Hemed went something like 13 or 14 games without a goal. That's just unacceptable shirley, even without the benefit of hindsight that we just missed out on promotion on goal difference. Take away the penalty v Rotherham and he's STILL firing blanks. Dress it up any way you like, but for a club aiming for a top two finish, that just won't do :nono:

Afraid I'm in the other camp that thinks he contributes. Another 15 this season will do very nicely. 17 last season, top scorer, about 4th or 5th in the top scorer chart for this division is good enough for me.

We scored more goals than Burnley and the same number as Boro. We conceded more, so to lay blame of the lack of promotion at the strikers is very unfair.
17 goals in the Championship is a good record.

Bet Palace fans said similar about Murray after his first season with them, he got 30 in his 2nd season after just 6 in his first.

Now Baldock's off the mark for league goals this season, (already has 2 in all competitions) he may go on to have a great goal scoring season for us and this goal could help get his confidence up and he could go on a good run of goals (they all count, no matter how they go in)

I never understand those who would rather be negative about important squad members rather than get behind them. Baldock is important to us and adds a lot to our attack (has a couple of assists already) and sometimes players are crucial to success even if they don't contribute in the way that some expect (ie, not scoring enough for someone who chooses to ignore all their other contributions)

We'll just have to agree to disagree there. Hemed goes a dozen or more games without scoring, Baldock scores four goals all season. That's only one small step up from the CMS/COG disaster zone. Just won't do :nono:

How many times did he hit the woodwork in that goal-less streak? - We also lost a lot of key players to injury during that streak and supply dried up so to blame the player is harsh and to judge him as poor is a joke

Murray got just 6 goals in his first season at palace from 37 games, would you say he isn't a goal scorer and using that measure, not good enough for us now? Did he score his 30 the following season due to both of Palace's wingers form (Bolaise and Zaha creating so many chances and do you discount his penalties from that season and judge Glenn as a poor striker for that season?)

I agree re the tally of goals by Hemed, but it is a problem, because a lot of those drawn games, were drawn because we weren't clinical in front of goal.

Derby at home, Sheff Wed, Burnley at home. We failed to beat the top teams largely because we failed to take presentable chances.

Peter Beardsley was never a prolific scorer but ask Lineker or Rush if they'd be without him... I agree with you.
