Not defending him but a quick glance on his Wikipedia entry shows that he was just coming out of a very different lifestyle around the time and Luton FC helped turn his life around.

Totally agree. I accidentally ran someone over when I was young and a bit silly. I didn't stop, 'cos I couldn't have done anything about it anyway. Unfortunately they died, but there was no point in stepping forward, it wouldn't have brought her back. It's ok now though, right?

Can't defend what he posted 5 years but if you read a bit of his background this appears to be someone who has genuinely turned his life around. Says a lot for Luton town who appeared to have been the catalyst. Just sometimes the football industry is a force for good. Having bothered to read a bit of his history over the last few hours the apology feels genuine.
The apology feels like it was written by somebody else. Apart from that i agree with you.

Since he is an employee of a company with international exposure of course it would be... And he is a footballer after all. But he has been interviewed about his past. Around the time the posts were made he has trawled his way out of a life in gangs and has the scars to prove it. He called that a wake up call. If there is anything good to come out of tonight it does display how people can turn their lives around.
