Niki Maenpaa is finally set for his Albion league debut – 13 months after signing.
The Finland international goalkeeper is set to make back-to-back appearances for the first time at home to Rotherham tomorrow night and at Reading on Saturday.
First choice David Stockdale suffered left shin damage in the closing stages of his 50th consecutive Championship appearance in Friday’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the Amex.
Stockdale described the results of a scan as “good news” and has vowed to “be back as quickly as possible”.
Maenpaa, 31, will deputise in the meantime. He has been restricted to a handful of League Cup and FA Cup outings since joining the Seagulls last summer from Dutch club VVV Venlo to provide more experienced competition and cover for Stockdale.
Manager Chris Hughton persuaded Maenpaa to sign for another year during the close season.
Christian Walton, 20, expects to remain at Luton Town, where he is on a season-long loan, as Albion also have 36-year-old Casper Ankergren as cover.
Rotherham are also forced into at least one change to the team beaten 3-0 at Aston Villa on Saturday. Albion midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey is ineligible for the Millers under the terms of his season-long loan.
