Excerpts from article on the hard-left Labour Briefing website:

“WE HAVE TO ALERT PARTY MEMBERS and supporters that the soft coup is underway. It’s planned, co-ordinated and fully resourced. It is being perpetrated by an alliance between elements in the Labour Party and the Murdoch media empire, both intent on destroying Jeremy Corbyn and all that he stands for…

“The plotters are effective in distorting the media coverage because they have extensive contacts and allies in the media, many inherited from Mandelson’s days. The professional planning of interventions in which attacks to undermine Jeremy are framed evidences an exceptionally well resourced ‘dark arts’ operation of the old spin school.

“Both quantitative and qualitative polling is undertaken by the Party regularly under the direction of Jon Trickett, the Party’s National Campaign Co-ordinator. Jon arranged for one focus group to be carried out by the Party’s polling agency in Manchester to assess how our frontbench members appearing on television programmes at the time were being perceived in the north west. This polling took place back in November and its results were only accessible to a small number of party officials, Jon Trickett and the polling agency. To this day I have still not seen the results. The polling was leaked by someone to James Lyons, a Times journalist who has regularly received leaks from within the Labour Party – usually used to attack Jeremy and his team.

“The Murdoch media had already run earlier in the week fake news stories in The Times and Sun alleging that Jeremy was planning to stand down as leader of the Party… The media then invented the story that the polling on the perception of Shadow Cabinet members in the north west was the Party testing the perceptions of potential successors to Jeremy.

“…we can defeat the plotters again. This is the testing time for the Corbyn transformation. The challenges are great and the times are tough – but we all know that this is the socialist opportunity of a lifetime.”

And today Corybn says he will definitely be the Labour leader for the 2020 election.

Party starts at 10 Downing Street with Mrs May leading the celebrations.

Bookies taking bets on how many seats Labour will lose and who will be official opposition pist that election.

bookies would be better taking bets on where to find a working hospital with doctors and nurses
and betting on whether you might find a school with teachers who are not thinking of finding an alternative career
we are going to hell in a handcart if this stay in any longer

Having worked in both locations I stand by my statement - I can only presume you have never been to Gorton Herr T?

Nope. I've never even heard of Gorton let alone been there. I trust your judgement though

Well it won't be found on the far left of your Party, the Labour Party do have a chance in 2020 if the right Milliband returns as leader and has 2 straight years attacking the Conservatives prior to the GE, unfortunately for the Labour Party he is considered left centrist for the party members.

Whilst many of us are alarmed and scared by the lurch to the right that we are seeing on a national and international level and the impact that this could (and in some cases already is) having on what we viewed not so long ago as fundamental rights and values this clown is viewing this all as a 'socialist opportunity'. Delusion and politics as ************..shameful.

Surely it is time for the reasonable voices of the moderate left to stand up and be counted?

It is a pretty pathetic indictment that they have gone missing just when the country actually needs them.

Absolutely. The problem is that there is very little room for movement for pragmatic and realistic voices within the Labour Party as it stands right now. It's why I left.

Truly horrible place, there are places in & around the Stoke area I could live in but Gorton. :(

Anyway back to the substance of the discussion, this should be a straight fight between UKIP and Labour.

Curly had a massive majority but we will see...

the only fight will be for 2nd, with Labour disappointed if they dont get 50% of the vote. on previous form, Liberals will be looking to get some uplift in their share to give them hope.

That could have been lifted directly from Animal Farm. Strange times we live in.

That could have been written in the 1970's which is depressing but it does underline how hard the left are going to fight (as well as how paranoid they are) to stay in power in the Labour Party irrespective of the impact this will have on the electability of the party. Sad times.

Has there ever BEEN a more stunted introvert leader of a major party who has been a political nonentity all their political life and is incapable of properly engaging with the wider electorate?

Can't think of one off-hand, to be honest. Just go away Jeremy. Your heart may be in the right place, but you're a ridiculous figure. Dead sheep walking. It's beyond pathetic.

Caroline Lucas is the best party leader that Labour never had.
