The difference being that Barry is one of the best defensive midfielders the Premier League has ever had, and still has a lot to offer, especially in a team like ours.

I always find it funny that people slag off Gareth Barry after the career he has had. He has always been the whipping boy.

Yes, hindsight is a wonderful thing. I always hankered after him playing for us before he retired, but not at 39!
He’s had a wonderful career that probably wouldn’t have come to much if he had stayed with us.
All I remember is John Gregory being a total **** about us and him when at AV.
