In 2013 on Desert Island Discs Kirsty Young interviewed Alice Walker of 'The Color Purple' fame. The book she chose to take with her on the desert island was 'Human Race Get Off Your Knees: The Lion Sleeps No More' by David Icke.

He's made a profit, but no more than if he'd stuck his inheritance in shares and left it.

Quite a bit less than if he'd put the inheritance ($200million) into an index tracker fund and left it but that's not atypical. He's a property developer and, therefore, tends to be highly leveraged, which means he gets burnt big time each time the economy and property values tank. He does seem to be pretty good at getting wealthy again each time he goes bust though.

If he's highly leveraged then he'll also win big as property goes up - which is what it's been doing most of the time.

He's never gone bust has he. It would be tricky with a $200m starting fund.

Given his goal keeping football credentials, I'm surprised Icke hasn't got on board with this one.

On his way home from the World Cup the Daily Telegraph’s football correspondent, Bob Oxby, stopped off in Washington to visit his cousin, the senator Stuart Symington. Symington told him – whether it was said in jest or in truth is unknown, though it does seem far-fetched – the CIA had been behind Banks’ bout of food poisoning, intended to remove from the tournament the only team considered likely to stop Brazil, where the political situation had been causing concern in Washington.

“Somebody got at him,” said the striker Peter Osgood. “We all did everything together as far as food and drink was concerned. We all ate the same things, we were all on salt tablets and various other pills to protect your stomach, which is why it was so hard to understand.”

Something about some people are actually lizards or something like that.
