Ernest Deadly Danson will confirm.

Correct. Not to the same standards that the guard used to be although they do have some safety training. That's of course if an OBS even appears. Doesn't matter how much safety training they have if they're not on the train at all.

Seems we might be close to a deal with ASLEF again, unless the members reject it again......

A deal is close to being finalised which could end a dispute between Southern and the train drivers' union Aslef.

A statement published on Aslef's website said talks had been held between the union and Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), Southern's parent company.

It said: "Further discussions between Aslef and GTR have taken place today and significant progress has been made.

"We are now in the process of finalising a proposal for agreement."

Southern has been in dispute with Aslef and the Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union over plans to introduce driver only trains.

A previous deal agreed between Aslef and GTR was rejected by members.

Industrial action by Aslef has included strikes and an overtime ban.

RMT members are striking on October 3 and 5.

Well, the trains seem to run better on strike days so nobody is really listening to the whining of the drivers anymore. Fail. They'll have to take a deal soon or face ruin.

1. not on the East coast line, there are huge gaps in the service on strike days (RMT)
2. there is still a lot of public support for train crew
3. agree, they will probably be forced to accept a deal soon
4. face ruin?

I'll take your word for it
There is very little public support fro train crew but there is a lot of hatred against Southern. Not the same thing as support for crews.
Good, good. Life goes on.
They'll lose their jobs if they keep throwing their toys out of the pram. People only have so much patience.

It's okay, I don't need them to. I known OBS's are safety trained, thank you so much.

Are OBS's allowed to go on the tracks then?

On the contrary, it is spreading. Anglia, Merseyrail, Arriva Rail North and Southern are striking.

Members of the RMT union at Southern, Merseyrail, Arriva Rail North and Greater Anglia will walk out on 3 and 5 October.
The walk outs will coincide with the closure of Liverpool Lime Street station for major refurbishment.
It will also be during the Tory Party's annual conference in Manchester.

The proposed agreement also includes a five-year pay deal worth 28.5%.

Good to see this has been included. After all it was never about money
