Couple of you have eluded to it but way more important than how you like it cooked is which cut.
Never been a big red-meat eater although always been partial to some venison.
However, for steak, I now only eat filet - more expensive but quality assured.

Smidge of pink with no blood - most chefs call it medium-rare.
