Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Dale Stephens highlighted the importance of securing three crucial points against MK Dons yesterday.Middlesbrough’s 1-0 win over Hull City saw the Seagulls briefly slip out of the automatic promotion places and Stephens was delighted to claim all three points in front of 7,034 visiting fans.Dale Stephens
He said, “It was a disappointing result seeing Middlesbrough score in the last minute, but we’ve got to look after ourselves and we did that.
“We knew the task ahead was going to be difficult. Hull, Burnley and Middlesbrough are going to pick up points but they’re going to lose them too, and it’s up to us to do our best to get maximum points from every game.
“The fans brought a lot of encouragement yesterday and it was great to have so many supporters there.
“We wanted to send them home happy and the gaffer said that to us before the game.”

The 26-year-old admitted the outcome of the game could have been very different if Carl Baker had scored late on from the penalty spot, and he was left a tad frustrated that the win was not more comfortable.“It’s not a penalty. The ball has hit Tomer in the face and thankfully it’s evened itself out and they missed the penalty.
“I asked him [the referee] after the game and he said it’s hit number six’s arm, but it didn’t. Some decisions go against you.
“We were 2-0 up and good for that lead. It was disappointing not to see it out or even go 3-1 up after Tomer had a goal disallowed, which was a fraction offside.
"Those decisions can change games and thankfully it went in our favour.”
The Seagulls now go into the international break on a high and the midfielder feels the upcoming gap in league action has come at the right time for the squad.
“The lads have played a lot of football. It will be good to have a little break, so we’ll do that and hopefully finish the season strongly.”
