The result ensured Simon Rusk’s side claimed back-to-back draws against two of the top three sides following a 2-2 draw with league leaders Derby County two weeks ago.
The game started in a rather cagey fashion with two James Tilley free-kicks the extent of any attacking action in the opening ten minutes.
However, Andre Green then almost broke the deadlock for the visitors when his fierce strike was tipped over the bar by Christian Walton.
Jordan Lyden tested Walton from the subsequent corner with a diving header which forced the Albion shot-stopper into a low save.
Henry Cowans was next to test the Seagulls' defence, but his free-kick sailed past the left-hand post.
Tilley was one of the main attacking threats for Albion and did well to get beyond the Villa defence, but scuffed his shot and Matija Sarkic made a comfortable save.
Jonah Ayunga made a driving run down the left-hand side, but saw his angled strike go behind the target.
Chike Kandi had Albion’s best chance of the half when his first-time shot forced a quick reaction save from Sarkic.

Rusk’s side did break the deadlock in the 62nd minute as Sarkic made a punched clearance and White rifled home a superb volley from the edge of the box.But parity was restored to the scoreline just three minutes later as Jerell Sellars showed some neat footwork inside the box and fired home past Walton.
Albion were forced into a change moments later when Dessie Hutchinson went off injured and was replaced by Ragnar Mar-Larusson.
The Icelandic forward could have made an immediate impact after he raced through on goal, but his tame effort was comfortably saved by Sarkic.
Tilley drove into space in a central position, but dragged his shot wide of the right-hand post.
The visitors had a chance to score a second and potentially decisive goal as Green got to the byline and his pass found Sellars, but his strike was deflected behind.
Villa came within touching distance of stealing all three points at the death, when Lyden’s diving header forced a fine two-handed save from Walton.
The action did not end there, as Mar-Larusson drove into the box and saw the second of his two strikes hit the post, before Walton saved a strike from Rory Hale.
