Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18s were beaten for the first time in four games after a 2-0 defeat to West Ham United on Saturday.
*
Goals in each half from Dan Kemp and Grady Diangana were enough to secure all three points for the Hammers.
*
Albion had a chance to take the lead inside the opening few minutes when Reece Meekums raced one-on-one with goalkeeper Rihards Matrevics, but the shot-stopper reacted well to make the save.
*
Meekums had another chance to break the deadlock when his shot almost crossed the line, before being cleared away at the last moment by the West Ham defence.
*
But it was the Hammers that took the lead on the half-hour mark when Kemp was brought down inside the box.
*
The forward stepped up to take the subsequent penalty and fired the ball into the bottom corner beyond Albion keeper Bailey Vose.
